Introducing journaling to preschool-aged children is a thoughtful way to enhance their cognitive and emotional development 🌱. By guiding them through expressions via drawings and writings, parents can significantly foster creativity and emotional intelligence 📖✍️. This method supports early literacy skills and offers insights into a child's inner world, strengthening parent-child bonds ❤️. 📚 Inspire with Books: Reflect on their world and beyond to motivate. 🎨 Creative Prompts: Encourage drawings or writings about their day, dreams, or favorites. 💬 Emotion Expression: Helps in understanding and expressing feelings.

Harvard University released a new book today. The book 📖, titled "A Pedagogy of Play - Supporting Playful Learning in Classrooms and Schools," is the result of eight years of research 🔬 led by a team at the Graduate School of Education. The researchers explained that when playful learning is embraced, children are given the opportunity to explore the unknown, lead their own learning, and find joy in learning. They also offer five ways educators can support playful learning: ✅Empower students to guide their own learning. ✅Create a culture of collaborative learning together. ✅Encourage risk-taking and experimentation. ✅Promote imaginative thinking. ✅Accept the different emotions that play can create. The free book can be downloaded 🔽 on Harvard GSE's website. At Out Of The Box, we believe in embracing learning through play 🛝 as well, and our Classroom-in-a-box creates learning and playing environments anywhere.

R.E.S.P.E.C.T starts with A.B.C. Child development studies show how young children actively make sense of the world by observing, learning from activities, and interacting with others. The early years are critical foundational years for their physical and mental health, identity formation, and competencies development. However, the instinct to exert control over our young ones always crops up, as children are often viewed as passive recipients of care and instruction. While the intentions mostly come from a good place, the actions may unknowingly undermine opportunities for learning and skills-building. An article from Today (Singapore) outlines three guiding principles for parents and educators: 1. Understand child development milestones ("Do my actions align with realistic expectations of my child at this juncture?") 2. Reflect on the messaging behind our actions ("Do my actions and reactions accurately convey what I want the child to learn?) 3. Practice perspective-taking ("Is there a better way to manage the incident, and what are the alternatives?)
