REMINDER! PROPOSALS ARE DUE APRIL 3! The OCP Takes Action Against Silent Data Corruption! In the realm of computing systems, there lurks an insidious threat - Silent Data Corruption (SDC). A hardware-induced SDC is an error that occurs when data is corrupted within a computing system, often without any indication from the built-in error detection mechanisms. This can happen due to manufacturing defects, aging components, or even environmental factors. These errors may lead to anomalous/unpredictable software behavior, causing incorrect calculations, potentially leading to consequences like the loss of data. The OCP's Server Project has established the Server Component Resilience Workstream, focused explicitly on tackling hardware-induced Silent Data Corruption. This workstream, comprising key industry players Meta, Google, Intel, ARM, AMD, Microsoft, and NVIDIA, is launching a request for research proposals to fuel innovation in detection and prevention of SDC. The OCP Foundation is inviting researchers to submit proposals in the focus areas. OCP is hiring to join our team! We are looking for a Channel and Solution Provider Program Manager. We are seeking a highly motivated full-time employee to assist with the management and expansion of channel programs. This role will play a key part in supporting OCP’s global community of members, including manufacturers, systems integrators, component manufacturers, ODMs, and data center operators. The role will focus on supporting OCP Solution Providers including the overall OCP Marketplace, expanding participation in the Solution Provider Program, and helping to develop strategies that enable members to bring OCP designs to broader markets through channel-related programs. Welcome to the OCP team Raúl Álvarez, European Market Development Manager! Raúl has a rich background in the IT and data center market, with extensive experience in data center operations. Prior to joining OCP as a Staff Member, Raúl has been participating in the OCP Community, with contributions to immersion cooling technologies and Data Center Facilities. He has led various workstreams and co-developed essential guidelines, including Immersion Requirements and Liquid Cooling Facilities. Raúl was recently co-leading the OCP Regional Community in Europe, focusing on outreach and fostering Community growth. His expertise has made a meaningful impact in the field, as he actively engages with the data center community to drive innovation and collaboration. Raúl and his family reside in Barcelona, Spain.
