Restoring Hope. Changing Lives.

About us

Established in 1952, The Open Door Mission is a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian Rescue Mission founded to "Restore Hope and Change Lives. We believe, with proper resources, we can restore hope and change lives of the spiritual and physical needs of the impoverished and homeless men, women and children of Rochester, NY. EMERGENCY HOUSING The Samaritan House Crisis Center provides shelter and bedding for up to 40 homeless men and women a night. In addition to overnight accommodations, we give our guests access to shower and bathroom facilities during their stay. Additional help for those seeking permanent housing is offered and determined on a case by case basis. Community meals are provided nightly, proceded by chapel. GATES WOMEN & CHILDREN RESIDENTIAL HOME 2,000. The number of homeless children in our Rochester City School District. Open Door Mission believes this is 2,000 too many and we have strengthened our commitment to improving the lives of Rochester's impoverished by pouring time and financial resources into a new home dedicated to serving women and children. ADDICTION RECOVERY Recovery from alcohol and drug abuse is possible. At Open Door Mission we support individuals trying to turn their lives around through a residency program and spiritual guidance. Addiction is not something that should be fought alone and at ODM we have your back. Acceptance into the program is managed on a case-by-case basis and each case is reviewed by the Program Director and Program Manager.
