Listen, there are TOO MANY GOOD QUOTES in this TechTarget article "AI breaks ageism barriers for older entrepreneurs." to share. But I want to highlight this one quote from Katerina Stroponiati of Brilliant Minds in the piece: "Stroponiati: When we think about how AI works, it requires us to be experts in our field and to be able to communicate effectively with AI, regardless of age. To do that, you need a deep knowledge of your space and to be a great communicator. You are a great communicator when you understand something and have clarity. These are the skills that everyone, regardless of age, needs to develop because of AI. At this point, it's not about being a developer anymore -- that's become more of a commodity. The center, the value, lies with great communicators who can, with clarity, communicate to the machine. Older founders are better at this because of experience and wisdom." When you connect this with the work of Arthur C. Brooks, who talks about how we become better communicators as we get old because our wisdom knows what's important and what isn't. This enhanced communication and clarity means midlife and older professionals can streamline interactions with AI. We have precision in getting what we want out of AI. So it looks like Indeed kinda said the quiet part out loud when it comes to age in the workplace. According to this Forbes piece, in a (since retracted) infographic, the popular job site labeled workers from 45 - 55 "Late Career" and those aged 55 - 65 in "Decline." The gaffe isn't funny because of the ugly perceptions many corporations have about those of us in those age groups.
