Operation Homefront, in partnership with Veterans Financial Services Advisory Council (VFSAC) is thrilled to welcome Navy veteran Bernell Browley, his wife Christina, and their son into their new home as part of our Transitional Homes for Veterans program! 🏡 After 20 years of service and five deployments, Bernell and his family are ready to start their journey toward homeownership. For the next 2-3 years, the Browleys will live rent-free while working with financial counselors to prepare for the future. With help from this program, the family will build savings, improve their credit, and work toward purchasing their own home! This opportunity is made possible by the generosity of VFSAC. Their contributions help ensure military families like the Browleys have the stability and resources they deserve. Recently, U.S. Bank, in partnership with Operation Homefront, donated a 2022 Hyundai Palisade to Air National Guard veteran and single mother of six, Shanta Swinton! After 21 years of service, including deployments to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, Shanta continues to show incredible strength as a mother and veteran. This vehicle donation will lift a huge burden, allowing her to safely travel with her family and ease financial strain. This marks U.S. Bank’s 29th vehicle donation through our partnership and the 78th vehicle donated through their Driven to Serve program. After a medical crisis ended Luci Lancaster's Navy career, she faced a new challenge, keeping her family safe from an abusive home. At the same time, she fell behind on rent and had to leave her job due to safety concerns. That’s when she discovered Operation Homefront's Critical Financial Assistance program, which provides short-term support for military families in need. With the help of our generous donors, Luci was able to secure the funds needed to stay in her apartment and keep her family safe. “Operation Homefront saved us from going back to an abusive home,” Luci shared. “There are not enough thank yous in the world for that.” Since 2011, the Critical Financial Assistance program has provided over $41 million to help military families stay strong, stable, and secure. Luci could lean on this program again in 2024 to keep her car from being repossessed, ensuring her family’s ongoing stability. Luci’s journey narrates the importance of supporting veterans in their time of need, just as they have supported our nation. Overcoming adversity and now on her way to completing a nursing degree, her story is a demonstration of the difference that having support can hold. Army veteran Jeffery Taylor, a Purple Heart recipient, bravely served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, enduring injuries during the Battle of Baghdad. After years of service, Jeffery now faces ongoing challenges, but thanks to Operation Homefront’s Critical Financial Assistance program, his family found relief when their water heater failed, and their savings were depleted. With the help of generous donors, Jeffery received $1,600 to restore hot water to his home. "We are very thankful for the donors and what you do," Jeffery shared. "I think it’s great there’s help out there." Operation Homefront continues to support veterans like Jeffery, providing vital assistance when it’s needed most. Last week, some incredible Chobani employees gathered at their Orlando conference to make a difference, packing 250 “Baking Smiles” kits! These thoughtful kits, filled with kitchen essentials will be distributed to military families during our Holiday Meals for Military® events in November and December. 🥧🍴 Chobani has been an incredible partner since 2018, raising over $4.5 million and leading in support of our Holiday Meals for Military program, which has provided over 190,000 meals to date.
