👑 ADVANCED COMMUNICATION WORKSHOP🗣️ ILD Coach-Innovative Leadership Development, a leadership partner with SCMEP, delivered a powerful half-day workshop yesterday for the OpExChange network. The focus? 🏭MICHELIN PLANT TOUR - OPEXCHANGE🤖 The premier OpExChange event in September was a plant visit to Michelin in Lexington. We had a tour of their US7 plant in Lexington, where the largest tire in the world is manufactured. US5 joined them to present on some of their Industry 4.0 applications. The visit featured projects on automated guided forklifts, a robot dog that autonomously performs maintenance inspections, and augmented reality and AI for knowledge capture, work instructions and training. Equally impressive was their “Spark Team” which is solely designed to enhance employee experience, which undoubtedly fuels and sustains their high retention rate and engagement. ⚙️OpExChange and SME Join Forces at SEW-Eurodrive - Technology Social🤖 OpExChange wrapped up Q3 with a record-breaking in-person event at SEW-EURODRIVE - USA in Wellford. This collaborative joint gathering between the OpExChange, Powered by SCMEP and the SME brought together South Carolina manufacturers and distributors to witness Industry 4.0 technology in action. Participants had the unique opportunity to network and collaborate with fellow manufacturers across the state, gaining valuable insights and forging new partnerships. We extend our sincere gratitude to SEW Eurodrive, a recent addition to our OpExChange community, for hosting this event at their state-of-the-art MAXOLUTION showroom and showcasing their advanced technology, including robots and conveyance systems. ✨OpExChange October Member Spotlight – RX Industries in Hilton Head Island🏭 RX Industries is the Palmetto State's first CNC shop powered by the ProShop ERP MES QMS system. We specialize in close tolerance, multi-axis CNC machining for the Space, Military and Aerospace industries. Our CNC equipment consists of new, DMG-Mori 5-axis mills and turn/mill lathes with 9-axes of machining capability. New Tsugami Swiss machining centers with 5 axis capabilities and we have invested in palletized automatic production and robotic loading/unloading for unattended machining. RX Industries has a 2020 Zeiss CMM for Quality Control, running Calypso software. We use Esprit CAM and SolidWorks CAD. 🚀 Insights from OpExChange: Transforming Workers’ Compensation with Lean and Technology 🚀 Last week, the OpExChange hosted a compelling virtual discussion featuring Jesse Dantice of Zenjuries and Tim Hayden from Sargent Metal Fabricators. Nearly 100 OpExChange members joined us for this eye-opening session on tackling the often-excessive costs associated with workers' compensation. Tim Hayden highlighted a critical issue: the current workers’ compensation system is “broken.” However, he shared how Sargent Metal Fabricators has successfully addressed this challenge with the Zenjuries application. What’s remarkable is how Zenjuries applied a lean approach to resolve the issue—eliminating waste, cutting claim cycle times, and ultimately reducing premium costs. Jesse and Tim emphasized that manufacturers should leverage their lean mindset to identify and eliminate inefficiencies. By incorporating technology and automation, companies can further accelerate these improvements.
