💡 Oh, snap! 131 miles of new roadway lighting is being installed in Orange County thanks to our $100 million Accelerated Transportation Safety Program. “Good lighting reduces nighttime crashes, especially at intersection crossings, and provides a safer environment for all road users,” said Colleen Lutz, assistant project manager, Orange County Public Works Engineering. “Better visibility enables drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to identify potential hazards faster, thus avoiding possible accidents.” Learn more about this 5-year plan to make our streets safer for bike riders, pedestrians, and drivers. 🔗 bit.ly/4f2sByP

🎉 Celebrating 25 Years of the Drug-Free Community Coalition! 🎉 This past Saturday, hundreds of individuals and dozens of organizations gathered at Lake Eola to celebrate Orange County's commitment to destigmatizing recovering and improving addiction education! Since its founding on September 28, 1994, the Drug-Free Community Coalition has worked to educate the community about substance use disorders and promote and destigmatize the recovery process through community events, establishing community resources, and partnerships with local organizations. If you or someone you know is struggling with substance use disorder, help is available! Just call the Orange County 311 Hotline to be connected with local resources. Together, we can make a difference!

🚥 New signal coming to S. Apopka Vineland Road and Wandering Way 🚥 Construction of a new traffic signal and relocation of a water main at this intersection will result in lane closures and could cause delays for drivers. Jersey barriers will be installed on the outside northbound lane of Apopka Vineland Road to protect crews from vehicle traffic. Pedestrians will also be detoured around the work area. Crews will begin working Sunday night. The project should be complete, and the traffic signal fully activated in February.
