  • We love hearing about how our customers use OCLS resources and the ways that our libraries enrich lives though experiences and opportunities to learn, grow and connect. Thank you Sophie A. Katz and Kayla for this great look at libraries and some of the services people might not know about yet! Take a listen to the "I Love This Thing So Fricking Much" podcast at the link below and visit Kayla's favorite service - Local Wanderer - at ocls.org/local-wanderer. (It is up and running again after some server issues!)

I love libraries - always have. I've visited libraries hundreds of times in my life, and used their online resources even more than that. But it never occurred to me to ask a library if I could borrow a baking pan... or a theatre ticket... or a wedding venue! In the latest episode of "I Love This Thing So Fricking Much," Kayla - a former librarian, a "local wanderer," and a big fan of the Orange County Library System - expanded my view of the role a library can have for its community. Find out more on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, the link below, or wherever you listen to podcasts! And if YOU have something you love so fricking much that you want to tell me all about it on the show, reach out! Leave a comment below, send me a message, or tag a passionate friend. I can't wait to hear from you! https://lnkd.in/eYrmvR4e #LoveThisThingCast #podcast #library #librarian #positivity #favoritething

  • Today we uncrated something fresh -- a new look for a new approach to what we do. Our new logo was inspired by our 100 Year Celebration design, which we used throughout 2023. Now, as we wind down our 100th year, we'll begin using this logo to represent our brand and our promise to enrich the lives of those we serve. You'll start seeing it on library communications beginning October 1.

Yesterday, our team provided constituent services at the Southeast Public Library as part of our Legislative Library Sessions! This is our last library session of the summer! Thank you to Orange County Library System for the annual summer partnership. 📚 [ID]: 5 members of our team sitting at our resource table, which has a collection of pamphlets for community members.

  • Meet Kali Anthony, Branch Outreach Specialist 👋 Hi there! My name is Kali Anthony and I am the Outreach Specialist for Alafaya Branch. As a former “library kid” myself, I am incredibly passionate about the library and all the amazing services we provide. I spent every summer of my childhood learning and growing at my local library and knew all the employees by name. It’s been a total full circle moment for me to be able to facilitate engaging experiences for children and families in our community through library outreach. When I’m not hosting trivia with seniors, providing a pop-up library, executing a STEM challenge or visiting local schools with a storytime, you can find me hunting down records for my vinyl collection, exploring national parks with my partner, trying to perfect a new recipe or cuddling with my cat, Meeko. Getting to connect with our community over the past year in this role has been such a gift. I love getting to hear your stories about how the library has impacted you. I believe that libraries are cornerstones of our communities, and I love helping folks figure out which service, class, program or material can benefit them the most. Keep an eye out for me in east Orlando … I’ll meet you there! 📍
