OPB is looking for community leaders based in Oregon and southern Washington, who are passionate about OPB's mission, to join our Community Advisory Board! The Community Advisory Board (CAB) is a volunteer board that helps OPB achieve its mission by spotlighting the diverse needs and interests of the communities served by OPB. Our CAB members are meant to represent many different communities – geographic, demographic, racial, cultural, etc. – and bring their perspective and those of their communities to advise OPB. Meetings are held virtually three to four times a year so physical geography is not a barrier to anyone interested in serving. The CAB interest form can be found below and includes more detailed information.

We’re recruiting a Data Security, Privacy and Compliance Manager! The right person for this role will have a solid understanding of data management concepts and tools, such as data governance, data quality, data security, data architecture, and data analytics. We’re looking for someone with knowledge of the relevant data privacy laws and regulations and how they affect different types of data and industries. Also, you should have excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, as you will need to collaborate with various teams and stakeholders and handle complex and sensitive data privacy matters. The board of directors of OPB has announced that Rachel Smolkin has been chosen as OPB’s next president and chief executive officer. A veteran journalist and senior vice president of global news for CNN Digital, she succeeds Steve Bass, who has served as OPB’s president and CEO since 2006. Smolkin says, “I am honored to lead OPB in its next chapter serving Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. I’m energized by the commitment the board has shown for building news and public affairs programming for all Oregonians and Southwest Washingtonians, for leading conversations about solving our most urgent challenges and for innovating new ways to connect with communities.” Smolkin will join OPB in September.
