Last week, the Oregon State Land Board convened at the Oregon Department of State Lands' South Slough Reserve within the southern Oregon coast. Treasurer Read and other state officials provided remarks and helped open a new exhibit to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the South Slough's designation as a National Estuarine Research Reserve under the NOAA: National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration. At the time, it was the 1st to receive this designation in the country!

This week, Treasurer Read joined GIUSTINA LAND & TIMBER CO., LLC and Weyerhaeuser at the Lane 1 and Adam Mountain fires outside of Cottage Grove. During his visit, the Treasurer met with teams onsite and learned about the ongoing efforts to contain and suppress the wildfires in the region. Their hard work and partnerships with the Oregon Department of Forestry are keeping our communities safe!
