Helping techies level up in their careers by developing their non-tech skills | Engineering Leader & Certified Career Coach | Country Director GWTL | ex-Thoughtworks

Introducing my 'Soft Skills for Tech Leads' online course, in partnership with O'Reilly. After months of work, it’s finally live 🤩 Thank you Amelia Blevins and David Michelson for your help during this process! I could not have done it without you 😊 We all know that Tech Leads need tech skills. But we don’t talk as much about how soft skills are the secret to becoming a successful Tech Lead. As a former Tech Lead, I've witnessed firsthand how a lack of soft skills can make you struggle as most tech problems are people problems. That's why I developed this course. In just 85 minutes you will learn:  ▶️ Why you need soft skills as a Tech Lead ▶️ Why your team needs you to have soft skills as a Tech Lead ▶️ The 7 essential soft skills you need to develop as a Tech Lead and how Plus, with O’Reilly’s 10-day free trial, there’s no reason not to dive in 😉 ➡ You can find it here: https://lnkd.in/dhpZEiNN Would love to hear what you think 😊

Idempotency is an important topic when it comes to handling technical and human errors in data engineering. For that reason I couldn't skip it in the Data Engineering Design Patterns book. Yes, you get it right, a new chapter is available in the Early Release of the book you can read on O'Reilly platform. It covers 4 different #dataengineering idempotency implementations based on: * Data overwriting with one pattern demonstrating the power of metadata operations and another leveraging simple yet powerful overwrite inserts. * Updates that work well with the incremental datasets. * Native database capabilities such as key-value stores and consistent key generation strategies from technical metadata. * Immutability leveraging a popular verb in software engineering that any problem can be solved "by introducing an extra level of indirection". If you haven't read it yet but want to see what the Early Release looks like before the final release, you can follow this link: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eYcy2dNX Best, Bartosz. PS#1. I also have some new blog posts ready but I wanted to share the new chapter's availability before :) PS#2. I've first heard about Idempotency from Maxime Beauchemin's blog post about Functional data engineering 6 years ago. If you are new to the field, I highly recommend one of the classics! https://lnkd.in/eZW-a3CH
