Are You Ingesting a Credit Card Worth of Plastics per week? A recent study found that we could be consuming a credit card worth of plastic per week, as Dr Sanjay Gupta, chief medical correspondent for CNN explains in his recent podcast titled “The surprising ways microplastics enter your body”. It is now very well documented that fragments of plastics are being discovered in human organs and arteries in the form of very small particles referred to as micro and nano plastics. Microplastics are less than 5mm, but Nano plastics are way smaller, measuring less than a Micron, which makes them invisible to the naked eye, and they are floating around us. As Dr Gupta explains, “Those plastics have now been linked to heart attacks, strokes, and even early death.” The risks to human health are serious, and the situation is being exacerbated by our growing dependency on single use plastics. Just last year over 400 million metric tons of plastic were produced, of which about 8 million tons ended up in the oceans.   That’s when I asked myself, how can I help reduce single-use plastics that enter everyone’s homes? And the answer to that is what inspired me to start this business.    Because 550 million empty shampoo bottles are discarded every year in the US alone, which is about 30 metric tons that will eventually degrade into micro and nano plastics, I started a journey to develop alternatives to plastic shampoo bottles. And now they are here!   At Organica Eco Soaps we offer all-natural solid shampoo and conditioner bars with biodegradable packaging. This is our contribution to a better world, and with your support we will continue to find ways to break the habit of using single use plastics in our daily lives.

The Plastics We Breathe Did you know that Micro and Nano plastics have Infiltrated our Organs, Threatening Our Health and our future generations? Recently, The Washington Post published an article by S. Ducroquet and S. Osaka, titled “The Plastics We Breathe”, which starts by saying “Every time you take a breath, you could be inhaling microplastics.” The article states that for several years now, scientists have been finding microplastics almost everywhere. They first found them in oceans and the bodies of fish and mussels. Then they discovered them our tap water, in vegetables and in fruits. Now they know that microplastics are in our bloodstream, spreading to virtually any organ in the body. Microplastics have been found in the placenta, the liver, and even in breast milk. Per this article, researchers discovered that “Microplastics are floating around us. They are suspended in the air on city streets and inside homes. One study found that people inhale or ingest on average 74,000 to 121,000 microplastic particles per year through breathing, eating, and drinking.”  This is very concerning, but what are the consequences of this? As explained in the article, “In laboratory tests on human cells, microplastics can cause tissue damage, allergic reactions, and even cell death. The chemicals in plastics (like phthalates or bisphenol-a) have also been shown to cause hormonal imbalances and disrupt the reproductive system.” It is clear that the risks to human health are serious, and the situation is being exacerbated by the out-of-control production of plastics. Just last year over 400 million metric tons of plastic was produced, of which about 8 million tons ended up in the oceans. What can you do about this? You can start with simple steps, like reducing single use plastics that enter your own home. One easy way is to switch away from plastic shampoo and conditioner bottles to All Natural, solid shampoo and hair conditioner bars, from Organica Eco Soaps. Not only will your hair be healthier and more radiant, but you will be contributing to reducing plastics and other environmental pollution, while also saving money.   At Organica Eco Soaps (www.OrganicaEcosoaps.com) we offer all natural shampoo bars, conditioner bars, and face and body soaps made with only natural and organic ingredients, and with biodegradable packaging. This is our contribution to a better world, and with your support we will continue to break the habit of using single use plastics in our daily lives.

Why do Industrial Soap Manufacturers Remove Over 90% of Glycerin from Soaps? Glycerin has an unparalleled ability to hydrate and moisturize the skin, providing elasticity and protection against irritants, accelerating the skin’s natural healing and regeneration properties. Although Glycerin is naturally produced during the soap-making process (aka Saponification), industrial soap manufacturers remove almost all of the glycerin from their soaps, loading then back with synthetic moisturizers, preservatives, and other fillers that turn your everyday soaps into nothing more than a detergent hence the need to use moisturizing creams and lotions. Ironically, most of those also contain synthetic and chemical components that damage the skin.   But why do they do this? Glycerin is a highly-priced ingredient found in many skincare products due to its numerous benefits, and it is more profitable for soap manufacturers to sell it separately or use it to incorporate it into other product lines.   How about natural soaps? Handcrafted natural soaps are known as “True Soaps” because they maintain 100% of the glycerin in every bar. This is the reason natural soaps feel much more nourishing on your skin since the first wash, and it just gets better over time.    Start your journey to Brighter, Softer, Healthier skin with true soaps from Organica Eco Soaps. Soon you’ll be tossing away those creams and lotions like many of our customers already have.   If you would like to learn more about the benefits of handcrafted soaps for your skin, check us out at https://lnkd.in/g32SCXtJ

What’s 550 Million? That’s the number of empty shampoo bottles discarded every year in the US alone. Unfortunately, the convenience of these plastic containers comes at a hefty environmental cost. According to recent estimates, billions of shampoo bottles end up in landfills or incinerators around the world, contributing to the ever-growing problem of plastic pollution. The production of plastic shampoo bottles is a resource-intensive process that contributes significantly to carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, and the global nature of the supply chain exacerbates the CO2 emissions associated with the shampoo industry .Moreover, the disposal of shampoo bottles also contributes to the proliferation of microplastics. As plastic bottles degrade over time, they break down into smaller particles, many of which are microscopic in size. These microplastics contaminate soil, water bodies, and even the air, posing potential threats to human health and the environment. While only a small fraction of those shampoo bottles (about 9%) are effectively recycled, the rest languish in landfills or find their way into oceans, causing severe harm to marine life and ecosystems. The Rise of Solid Shampoo Bars: A Sustainable Alternative Solid shampoo bars have been gaining momentum in the fight against plastic pollution and chemical contamination. Organica Eco Soaps’ compact shampoo bars eliminate the need for plastic packaging, offering a plastic-free and eco-friendly option, with minimal and compostable packaging, reducing the environmental impact from production to disposal. In addition, our Shampoo Bars contain natural ingredients, without harmful chemicals, reducing the introduction of pollutants into water systems. , which aligns with ethical and sustainable consumer preferences. And what’s even better, a single 3 oz shampoo bar can last 3 to 6 months, or about 3 shampoo bottles. If you would like to learn more, visit us at: https://lnkd.in/g32SCXtJ
