Last night, Oregon Organic Coalition celebrated the trailblazers of Oregon’s organic movement during the 2024 Oregon Organic Coalition’s Awards for Excellence—and we were honored to be a big part of the celebration! 🎉 Held alongside the fall National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) meeting in Portland, the event brought together organic advocates, farmers and businesses, organic certifiers, researchers, retailers and other changemakers shaping the future of organic agriculture in Oregon and beyond. It was a night to thank and celebrate both new and longtime champions close to our hearts. We were especially proud to honor: 🌱 Siri & Son Farms – A valued OGC supplier whose partnership helps us thrive. The number of people in the PNW Siri feeds with their organically grown produce every year is unbelievable. 🌱 Lynn Coody – A true leader in organic policy whose work will forever shape our sector. 🌱 Jeff Fairchild – OGC’s team member and former New Seasons Market leader whose 40-year legacy continues to influence retail produce in the Northwest and beyond. Meet all of this year’s inspiring honorees here https://bit.ly/3YfCvpL Making the night even more special, USDA Under Secretary Jenny Lester Moffitt joined us, sharing thanks for Oregon’s organic leadership and highlighting USDA’s growing support for organic farming nationwide. Together, we’re growing the organic agriculture movement! 🌿 Oregon Tilth Tilth Alliance Organic Seed Alliance Organic Trade Association #organicallygrown #NOSB

Bringing organic produce to the people since 1978
About us
We have been committed to providing our customers with fresh and flavorful organic produce since 1978. Our passion for organic produce has helped us become the largest wholesaler of organic fruits, vegetables and herbs in the Pacific Northwest. Not only are we committed to organic produce, we are also committed to becoming ever more sustainable in our business practices, and we encourage similar methods throughout the trade. Organically Grown was founded by farmers. We have built on those relationships by expanding our grower network to ensure we have access to the best produce available. Because we work within a small trade system, we are able to purchase over 90% of our products directly from growers. We team up with natural and fine food retailers, supermarket chains, restaurants, home delivery enterprises and processors who provide the final link in bringing our produce to customers thereby ensuring that Northwest communities reap the benefits of fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Organic food is produced naturally, without using conventional pesticides, petroleum-based fertilizers, or chemical processes. It's healthy for consumers and healthier for the growers in the fields. In a nutshell, organic food promotes healthy communities and a healthy environment.

What a day! We're honored to support and help feed participants at the National Organic Coalition's fall meeting right here in Portland. This year’s gathering is one of the biggest yet, bringing together farmers, seed growers, researchers, environmentalists, certifiers and nonprofits from across the country. A highlight? Hearing from farmers on the frontlines—including Inder Singh from Riverland Family Farms, one of OGC’s grower partners, about the real challenges they face: land access, water rights, labor, pests and fair pay. Farming isn’t a sprint; it’s a marathon. The creativity and resilience in the room are something else. It’s all about staying connected, asking the right questions and working together to protect and grow organic for the future. #organicmatters #nationalorganiccoalition #organicistheanswer #organicfarming #organicallygrown Mike Dill

“Thanks, OGC, for your support” said Laura Engle, grants manager at Marion Polk Food Share. “The need in our community is greater than we currently have capacity for, and every dollar helps us grow more food for the people who need it most.” Marion Polk Food Share's three mobile pantries reach people who have challenges to accessing fresh produce, like lack of transportation, physical disabilities, health related issues or farm workers who can’t leave the farm. These are pop up pantries that travel to places where people need them most. In 2023, OGC gave Marion Polk Food Share an unrestricted Mission Fund Grant that was used for things like seeds, supplies, potting mix and stipends for the youth farmers. Find out more about their work here https://bit.ly/4hgRzfq OGC’s Mission Fund Grant Program helps educate youth about organic agriculture, increase the accessibility of organic food to underserved communities, build equity in our food system and more. Marion Polk Food Share is just one of the many organizations the Mission Fund supported in 2023.

“The work that we’re doing has a big impact on the health of the river and people,” shared Michelle Emmons, deputy director of Willamette Riverkeeper. “I’m proud of the work we’ve been able to complete over the past year and, without businesses like yours that have stepped up to help, we wouldn’t have had those wins.” In 2023, OGC gave WRK an unrestricted Mission Fund Grant. They used the funds to support the River Guardians Program, which monitors and cleans up the immense amount of debris found in the river and on its banks. In 2023, volunteer Guardians dedicated close to 4,000 hours of time and removed over 200 cubic yards of garbage.
