📉 Inflation Update for Brokers! Inflation is still a hot topic, impacting everything from gas prices to your clients' mortgages. Here’s what Orion’s brokers need to know: Inflation Trends: Inflation is on the decline, which is helping lower interest rates. The Fed’s rate changes take time to impact, so we’re seeing results from their actions taken in 2022. Fed’s Moves: The Fed is expected to cut the fed funds rate on September 18, but the exact amount (25 or 50 basis points) is still up for debate. They aim to avoid overheating the economy or fueling higher inflation. Mortgage Rates: With inflation slowing and the Fed’s strategy working, mortgage rates are expected to dip into the low 6’s or even high 5’s for 30-year loans by the holidays. Advice for Clients: Brokers should let clients know that while the Fed is cautious, the current trajectory suggests favorable conditions for mortgages. 🏡 Three Ways to Prepare for Home Ownership 🏡 As we close out summer 2024, let's highlight some key steps to help your clients get ready for home ownership: ✅Credit Check: Advise clients to maintain a strong credit history—at least 24 months of good credit is usually required. A mix of credit cards, loans, and timely rent payments can boost their chances. Remember, sensationalist ads aren’t a substitute for solid advice! ✅Cash Flow: Ensure clients keep their debt-to-income ratio under 43%. This means their total monthly debts, including the new mortgage, shouldn’t exceed 43% of their income. Orion’s brokers excel at guiding clients through this crucial step. ✅Savings: Clients should have savings in reserve for at least three months and be prepared to explain any large deposits.
