The Orlando Ballet is proud to support the National Ballet of Ukraine, showcasing the remarkable talent and dedication of Ukrainian artists. Our Artistic Director, Jorden Morris, who served as Senior Creative Director with Shumka Ukrainian Dance Company, emphasizes the importance of artistic collaboration and cultural exchange. Last season, we were honored to provide rehearsal space at Harriett’s Orlando Ballet Centre and costume and wardrobe support for the National Ballet of Ukraine’s performances. These efforts reflect our commitment to nurturing creativity and connection within the dance community. See the National Ballet of Ukraine at Dr. Phillip’s Center on October 30 and join us in celebrating the power of the arts!   https://lnkd.in/dCT9Si2q #OrlandoBallet #NationalBalletofUkraine #SupportTheArts

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, it's important to recognize the profound impact of Flamenco, a passionate dance form with deep roots in Spanish culture. Originating in the Andalusian region, Flamenco emerged from a blend of diverse cultural influences, including Romani, Moorish, Jewish, and indigenous Spanish traditions. It began as a means of expression for marginalized communities, using intricate movements, music, and song to convey powerful emotions and stories. Flamenco consists of three core elements: cante (singing), toque (guitar playing), and baile (dance). Each performance serves as a dialogue of passion, reflecting themes of love, struggle, and joy. Today, Flamenco has transcended cultural boundaries, inspiring artists and audiences around the globe. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, you’re invited to participate in Orlando Ballet's special Flamenco workshop on Sunday, October 13th. Students will experience robust fundamental flamenco technique, posture, and theory in the first hour, preparing their mind and body for the exhilarating fun of the second hour, when they will explore combinations reflecting some of the most important flamenco rhythms. Join us in honoring this beautiful culture and the stories it tells through dance. Register Here:  https://lnkd.in/emM2whdq

We are excited to share a recap of our experience at the recent The Pride Chamber of Orlando Gala, where we proudly showcased our partnership with the chamber. The event was a vibrant celebration of diversity, community, and creativity, and it was an honor to be a part of it.   Our highlight of the evening was Kera Fernstrom’s breathtaking Cyr wheel performance of Desert Princess from The Nutcracker.    Thank you to The Pride Chamber of Orlando for having us. We look forward to continuing this journey of partnership and celebration!  Photo Credit: AXEL "AJ" SOMEILLAN   #PrideChamber #orlandoballet #orlandoarts #orlandoevents #centralfloridaarts

This event was a wonderful celebration of community and the arts, where our talented dancers not only performed excerpts from our beloved production of Peter Pan but also engaged with families through story readings.   At Orlando Ballet, our programs aim to inspire young minds and provide enriching experiences that connect the magic of dance with the joy of storytelling.   We are grateful to all the families who joined us, as well as our partners at the Orlando Science Center for making this event possible!    #OrlandoScienceCenter #CommunityPrograms #orlandoballet #orlandoarts #orlandoevents #centralfloridaarts

Behind the Scenes: Mastering the Art of Stage Combat in Orlando Ballet's Romeo & Juliet As we prepare for our upcoming performance of Romeo and Juliet, the dedication and artistry of our dancers truly shine during rehearsals. Recently, we had the privilege of working with fight choreographer Joe Sofranko and choreographer James Sofranko , whose guidance ensures that each strike of the sword, our dancers are conveying the intensity and emotion of this timeless tragedy. Incorporating stage combat into ballet requires not only technical skill but also a deep understanding of character motivation and narrative. Joe and James's expertise helps our dancers navigate this intricate choreography safely and effectively, bringing the complexity of Romeo and Juliet to life.   These rehearsals highlight the collaborative spirit of the arts community, where every team member contributes to bringing Shakespeare's tale of love and loss to life. Reserve your seat now to see the story unfold! #OrlandoBallet #RomeoAndJuliet #StageCombat #centralfloridaarts #orlandoarts #orlandoevents
