It is TRUE OR FALSE time with @orrnmentor:   TRUE or FALSE:   According to AORN, the risk of developing anaphylaxis is substantial, even when a sensitized individual has never experienced an adverse allergic event. . . . . . . . . . . . TRUE!!!!   According to AORN, these individuals “should strive to avoid latex allergens contacting skin, mucosa, and respiratory epithelium” because latex allergens can become airborne and unknowingly inhaled.   AORN recommends the implementation of latex precautions for patients and personnel with a latex allergy or sensitivity.   The evening before the procedure, all products containing natural rubber latex should be removed from the room and no products containing natural rubber latex should be used during terminal cleaning. You can’t be afraid when you don’t know. We all have something to learn. And no one person knows everything.   As you are training and growing, you need to push outside of the four walls of your box. Even when you can’t see what is on the other side.   We can inadvertently put lives in danger with ignorance. In the OR, we must admit when we don’t know, and we must ask for clarity, and we must ask for help.   We only grow when we step out. Don’t be afraid.
