Our first wall! And it couldn't be at a more fitting location: Books Are Magic on Smith Street. The Poem District is the latest project of the Poetry Society of America. The Poem District will transform blank walls in the neighborhoods around our storefront on Smith Street into sites of imaginative discovery, creating a fresh-air anthology of dozens of hand-painted poems. Thanks so much to the Books Are Magic team, Other Means for the design, Van Zee Sign Co. for the steady hand, and, of course, Aimee Nezhukumatathil for the perfect poem.

James Fuentes collaborates with design studio Other Means to create a distinct branding approach for his gallery. Other Means helped craft a minimalist, cohesive identity that aligns with Fuentes’s ethos of intimacy and accessibility in art. Together, they use design elements like typography, logo, and exhibition materials to emphasize Fuentes’s unconventional, community-driven vision. The collaboration highlights the gallery's focus on storytelling through pared-back, thoughtful visuals, enhancing its appeal without overshadowing the art. On the occasion of the Brooklyn Museum’s 200th anniversary, Other Means has designed a new identity for the institution that brings together its layers of history into one visual language.
Allow us to reintroduce ourselves… We’re celebrating our 200th anniversary with an exciting, new look. The Brooklyn Museum’s updated visual identity reflects the vibrancy and innovation that have always been at the heart of who we are. In the coming year, you’ll see this blend of tradition and contemporary energy applied to the in-person experience, must-have merch from the Shop, a new website, interactive tours, a digital series highlighting the icons of our collection, and more! We’d like to say a special thank you to Other Means, a Brooklyn-based graphic design studio that was integral to our rebrand.
