Nonprofits in Greater Hartford, CT continue to have an appetite for exploration of Earned Income possibilities that can boost their revenue and mission impact! Thanks to generous support from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, No Margin, No Mission was thrilled to launch the Social Enterprise Accelerator 2024 this week, which is now in its fourth iteration since first being offered in 2018. Executive Directors / CEO's, Board, and Staff from organizations gathered to enthusiastically participate in the first of 4 "Labinars" -- a series of interactive and engaging virtual sessions taking place now through July on a variety of important earned income topics. In between the Labinars, each NPO team will engage with No Margin, No Mission's consultants for 1:1 virtual consulting sessions designed to explore possibilities to launch or grow an entrepreneurial venture. The Connecticut Conference of Municipalities has released recommendations to address the crisis of disconnected youth in Connecticut. Our Piece of the Pie strongly encourages the adoption and implementation of the 119K Commission’s Young People First plan to address Connecticut’s Statewide crisis. The Plan includes the following recommendations as strategic pillars to address the crisis: - Coordinate supports for youth at all levels of the system; - Create stronger conditions for youth success within and beyond school; - Increase capacity in the system, and; - Build and sustain coalitions The tactics and strategies laid out in the recommendations address policy, funding, education, workforce, and the social sector. This past Friday, I had the privilege of attending Harriott Home Healthcare Academy's open house, where I was able to reconnect with the incredible team at Harriott Home Health Services, community partners, and some of their student alumni (including my amazing Our Piece of the Pie youth!) who have completed their CNA Training program. I was so proud to hear my youth speak so eloquently about their success with this program and their immense gratitude for Harriot Home for helping them start their pathway to success in Allied Health. It was inspiring to see how much they’ve grown, both personally and professionally. What made this event even more special was the opportunity for our graduates to network with key community partners, including the esteemed Congressmen John Larson.
