As Bar Convent Berlin’s official education partner, the OurWhisky Foundation curated a diverse schedule of tastings, panel discussions and workshops for over 330 Embassy visitors, covering everything from innovative blending techniques and distillation styles through to media bias and sexism. These were the eight biggest lessons we learned by participating in one of Europe’s biggest bar shows. https://lnkd.in/ev7s-wPc

Beverage Manufacturing
Recognising, supporting and empowering women in whisky, while advocating for a more inclusive and diverse industry.
About us
A non-profit organisation recognising, supporting and empowering women in the global whisky industry. Through collaboration with the global whisky community, the OurWhisky Foundation aims to challenge whisky’s outdated gendered image and help women to thrive in their careers. This is not a membership organisation – all our resources are free to access, from our talks with experts and industry leaders, to inspirational content in our online magazine, The Cut. Even networking through our new LinkedIn group is open to anyone working in whisky. The Foundation does, however, rely on support from the industry. For more information on our sponsors and how you can support us through sponsorship or a more bespoke partnership, please get in touch.

330+ guests, 32 whiskies and cocktails across 11 seminars – all in just 3 days! The OurWhisky Foundation’s Whisk(e)y Embassy at Bar Convent Berlin was an absolutely epic introduction for us to the ‘Glastonbury of Drinks Shows’. Thank you to everyone who stopped by one of our talks and tastings, especially all our fantastic speakers and sponsors who made the magic happen. Huge congratulations to the Bar Convent team for hosting an incredible exhibition and having us plus our hard-working neighbouring bar team from COLLAB Bar, lead by Chloe Merz. With a diverse schedule of DE&I workshops, tastings and panel discussions, our aim was to help all visitors improve their knowledge in more ways than one. Because whisky education should be about more than just the spirit - it’s about the people who make and enjoy it too. Starward Whisky’s new head distiller Carlie Dyer initially moved to Melbourne, Australia to pursue a career in wine. But as she tells Millie Milliken, she never expected to fall in love with whisky. In our latest interview for The Cut, the New Zealander explains how she transitioned from grape to grain, why a fascination with flavour led her to explore whisky blending, and how her career has been paved by the women who came before her. https://lnkd.in/eEGEdpi8 #carliedyer #starward #whisky #australianwhisky #ourwhiskyfoundation #ourwhisky #distilling #womeninstem

A global study from the Unstereotype Alliance, an initiative from UN Women, has found inclusive advertising has a positive impact on a business’ sales, profit and brand values. The study of 392 brands across 58 countries, including companies such as Unilever and Diageo found content which ‘authentically and positively portrays a full range of people and is devoid of stereotypes’ can have serious business benefits. They include: • 3.5% higher shorter-term sales and 16% higher longer-term sales • 62% higher likelihood of being a consumer’s first choice • 15% higher customer loyalty “The idea that that inclusive advertising content can commercially damage a business has limited progress for too long. The assertion is consistently unfounded – but we needed to provide evidence to the contrary,” said Sara Denby, head of the Unstereotype Alliance Secretariat at UN Women. Recent research by the OurWhisky Foundation found just 16% of women think they’re fairly represented in whisky advertising and marketing, with the same number claiming the industry is not doing enough to change whisky’s masculine image. Do you think it’s time more whisky brands embraced inclusive marketing? #inclusionmatters #inclusivemarketing #whisky #whiskey #unwomen #unstereotypealliance #ourwhiskyfoundation #whiskymarketing

When Rebecca Kean was a wee girl, her grandfather would point to a special whisky bottle and say it would be hers on her wedding day. Now, as Rebecca plans that special day, she also celebrates an exciting new role as assistant distillery manager at InchDairnie Distillery. In an interview for The Cut, she explains why the magic of whisky making called to her, and how being a mentee with the OurWhisky Foundation gave her the confidence to follow her heart. https://lnkd.in/emGV2VEd #rebeccakean #mentorshipmatters #ourwhiskyfoundation #inchdairnie #whisky #womeninstem #engineering #distilling

We've been shortlisted for The Spirits Business Ethical Award! 🎉
Whisky & Drinks Journalist, Presenter, Consultant. Founder of OurWhisky and the OurWhisky Foundation
I can't express how proud I am to have the OurWhisky Foundation shortlisted for The Spirits Business Ethical Award! This seed of an idea I had during my unemployed lockdown has grown into such an inspiring community of women and allies globally, and doing the work I only dreamed of. In just two years as well. It's been such a long and difficult road - as anyone who runs a non-profit will tell you - but it's recognition like this that helps keep me going. 🙏 I'm also thrilled for the other nominees in our category, Be Inclusive Hospitality, Equal Measures UK, Elephant Gin | B Corp™ and Distill Ventures, all of whom are doing brilliant, vital work. What a lineup! 👑 https://lnkd.in/eNK8UxzJ
