Explore this interactive lidar data of a city drive: https://lnkd.in/d2Hrku-6. Historically, lidar data hasn’t been easy to view and has been even harder to share. We built Ouster Studio to upload, view, share, evaluate, and download Ouster sample lidar data for easier system development and evaluation. More updates to Ouster Studio are coming soon.

Two months ago Ouster introduced Firmware 3.1 for our OS sensor lineup. Amongst the steps forward, 3.1 unlocks new performance and usability improvements, reduces minimum range to zero, improves sensor accuracy, and elevates obscurant performance. This update showcases our ability to continuously introduce significant improvements to our sensor performance for customers without necessitating invasive hardware changes. You can read more details about the upgrades in our blog and recent webinar introducing the new firmware. Blog: https://bit.ly/403Uq5u Webinar: https://bit.ly/3YrwpCK

In the standard dual return mode, Ouster sensors deliver data on the two most light-reflective objects along the laser path, denoting the strongest and second strongest returns. The introduction of Firmware 3.1 offers three methods to sequence these returns: 1. Strongest to Weakest: The return with the greatest light reflection will be recorded as the 'first' return. 2. Nearest to Farthest: The return that is closer to the sensor will be designated as the 'first' return. 3. Farthest to Nearest: The return located furthest from the sensor will mark the 'first' return. This enhancement allows for improved adaptability, convenience, and flexibility in data management and in various operational scenarios.
