Outer Labs just returned from Engineering News-Record’s Future Tech conference. One message was clear: the construction industry will experience strong growth in 2024 and 2025 – and those who prioritize technology are poised to win. AI was undoubtedly a strong theme, with sessions from Dodge Construction Network and others exploring its applications in risk mitigation, construction site safety, cost estimation, and design tooling. The development tech landscape is rapidly evolving, and we look forward to collaborating with industry pioneers to drive innovation. Stay tuned as we share more on our approach to technologies like AI in the coming weeks. Karl Garske Morgan Fabian Sonal Singh Goldstein Gulshan Arora #AECtech #proptech #conference #ENR

Outer Labs celebrated our 6th anniversary in person last week at an all-office offsite. As a fully remote startup, we prioritize bringing our team together several times a year to reconnect face-to-face. These gatherings offer prime opportunities for ideating and planning, but more importantly, they allow us to pause, look beyond deadlines and milestones, and appreciate each other for who we are, not just for the amazing work we do. We left the event feeling deeply energized, connected, and grateful for the incredibly talented people we get to work with every day. #AECtech #proptech #culture

Outer Labs participated in The Missing Middle Housing Fund's Housing Summit in Portland two weeks ago. It was an incredible opportunity to connect with innovators and changemakers and work together on solutions to make housing more attainable for those who keep our local economies healthy and strong. We look forward to continuing these critical conversations as we develop tools that help developers deliver housing at scale.
Yesterday, Let’s Build Portland brought together an amazing group of innovators and community change makers to workshop housing solutions for middle income earners and establish cross-functional task forces to carry the work forward. Task forces include: Aligning workforce housing incentives across the state and municipalities for consistency, working better to align zoning codes to enable workforce housing and innovation, creating a land bank with public and private partners for middle income housing, and building equity for renters. Thanks to all who joined us for the day. Your energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to our communities is exactly what we need to help address our housing underproduction crisis. A special shoutout to our partner, Autodesk, who not only served as our host for the day in their beautiful space overlooking Portland, but also continue to bring their leadership and support to our efforts.
