About us
OVER-DRIVE Magazine is a new way to deliver content to you. We call our publication “Over-Drive” because the content we deliver is designed for those who drive and enjoy their cars – and because what we deliver is over and above what ever you will see anywhere else. Here, you won’t just see a picture and a bunch of text afterwards. What you will see here each time we publish is a “magazine” issue with 4 or 5 key topics – each filled with backup information, side bar stories and factoids from original sources. In other words, you’ll see an exciting and interesting picture of each fascinating topic from the automotive world – past and present. GET IN!

1967 Mercury Cougar - Brand New! The Mercury Cougar far exceeded initial sales projections, and would account for nearly 40% of the entire Lincoln-Mercury division in 1967. The Cougar was released solely as a two-door hardtop, priced $284 more than the Ford Mustang. The Cougar received the 1967 Motor Trend Car of the Year award, being the first and only Mercury to do so. Learn about it HERE https://lnkd.in/gAAjbf_j #Mercury #MercuryCougar #MercuryPerformance

It’s Time for a 4-Door Mustang - Mustang enthusiasts, before you skin me alive, hear me out. Let’s look at the past, present, and future when it comes to our beloved Pony Car. Let’s admit it - Mustang is a Brand, not a model – and if so, then expanding into the 4-door sports sedan segment is a layup. Read my take on it HERE https://lnkd.in/g_4BVf5Z #Ford #FordMustang #Mustang #FordPerformance #MustangPerformance

1958 Ford Thunderbird - An All New All Different Approach! 1958 was the first year for the four-passenger "Square Bird". For the first time, Thunderbirds were offered as either a true, fixed in place, hardtop or a convertible, each being a separate model. It was now a 4-seater, aimed far more toward the luxury market than the sport, and now weighing almost 1000 pounds more than the 1957 version. Only one engine choice was available. Let’s Talk about Chrysler Corp’s “B” and “RB” Blocks. As you may know, Chrysler produced their “Big Block” in two sizes – a low deck “B” and a raised deck “RB”. (The deck is the distance between the crankshaft centerline and the top of the block.) This trusty V-8 spawned the famous B block “383” found in the Road Runner and the mighty RB block in the 426 CID “Hemi”. Take a walk through our two articles: One on the 66-70 engine specs HERE https://lnkd.in/geAg9tSa and the story of the earlier blocks HERE https://lnkd.in/gKxn_-Cq #ChryslerPerformance #MoparPerformance #Hemi #Dodge #Plymouth #DeSoto

1965 Corvette Facts Are Up. The new 425 HP Mark IV Chevrolet “Big Block” arrives! The Corvette engine lineup also included a new 350 HP 327 CID hydraulic lifter V-8. Disc Brakes and a Telescoping Steering Column were big additions. This would be the last year of the fuel injected small block. It was too expensive to produce and required more annual maintenance to maintain performance. Check It Out HERE https://lnkd.in/ga9yiUF2 #Corvette #ChevroletCorvette #ChevroletPerformance

What Do You Know About Ford’s “FE” Engine Family? This is the family of engines that spawned the Cobra Jet, the 427, and the “Cammer”. Did you know that “FE” stands for “Ford-Edsel” - the line of cars the motor was designed for? Some little known facts: Though introduced in 1958, the engine didn’t have a performance version until 1960. It took until 1963 for the potential of the engine to surface – the 427 CID. The Cammer was a response to Chrysler’s Hemi, but never saw installation in a passenger car. Take a walk down memory lane HERE https://lnkd.in/gPTwR-Qn See each and every iteration of the FE by year - by CID – by HP. 1957 Ford Thunderbird Facts Now Available! The 1957 model received sleek restyling. A longer rear section let the spare tire move back into the trunk. Inside, the 1957 model used an instrument panel design from full-sized 1956 Fords, with an engine-turned insert. HP was up with the "standard” 312 CID V-8 now at 245 HP. A supercharged version offered 300 HP. Race engines developed 285 – 340 HP! SEE https://lnkd.in/gXyvWN8P #Ford #FordThunderbird #FordPerformance

Did You Know? There is no such thing as a Pontiac big or small block! The dimensions and deck height are the same from the 287 CID V-8 of 1955 to the 455 CID V-8! There is only one difference – the 421-428-455 block used larger main bearing journals. You can sea each and every configuration HERE https://lnkd.in/gF7H8eqA #Pontiac #PontiacPerformance #PontiacGTO
