Owensboro Health is always looking for ways to improve patient safety and efficiency. Traditional bed cables, which connect the patient to the nurse call system and bed exit alarms, can get damaged when team members forget to disconnect cords before moving a patient’s bed. This can lead to a compromised patient station and a room that’s out of service, affecting the entire care process. To address this issue, we’ve upgraded the bed cables in 360 patient rooms to BlackJack Magnetic Breakaway Cables from HatchMed. These innovative cables offer several benefits: - Reduced falls: Decreased falls by 20-30% due to reduced pin damage and service calls. - Improved patient safety: Magnetic connection for IV poles and nurse call systems reduces alarm fatigue and increases nurse efficiency. - Reduced staff workload: Easier disconnection of cables during bed transport and fewer service calls due to pin damage. -Seamless patient experience: Real-time notifications of patient movement and potential falls through integration with nurse call systems and bed alarms. By adopting this technology, we’re making a significant step towards providing safer and more efficient care for our patients. #healthcareinnovation #HatchMed #patientcare

Owensboro Health Regional Hospital’s "I Just Delivered" bracelet program continues to support postpartum mothers by providing blue bracelets at discharge. These bracelets serve as a reminder to healthcare providers and family to stay vigilant for any postpartum complications. Funded by the Owensboro Health Volunteer Auxiliary, the bracelets help alert others to potential symptoms such as chest pain, seizures, or heavy bleeding, ensuring at-risk mothers receive timely care and support during recovery. We are deeply committed to your long-term health, ensuring you receive the best care today and into the future!

Last night was a soggy one for Game On! as we traveled to the Webster County @ Hopkins Central game for a fun-filled evening of mini-footballs and the punt, pass and kick contest for student participants from each school. Student participants were Karon Hopson from Central and Mallory Austin from Webster County. As an integral part of the communities we serve, Owensboro Health is devoted to giving back to students all across our 18-county service area. Stay tuned as Game On! travels to more schools throughout the season!
