I met Dikembe at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention forum for global health in February 2019. We listened to discussions on the challenges of global health initiatives and how Polio and TB vaccines were successful worldwide. We discussed his hospitals and how the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation made progress helping the people in the Democratic Republic of Congo with health and education. He asked me about how he could get a portable Xray called the Micro C, from OXOS Medical into his hospital. He handed me his card and gave me his personal email and I followed up. Dikembe’s unwavering support for medical care for underserved was incredible.
