Minnesota is making strides toward sustainable roadways with a new project on Highway I-94 Westbound. Our team participated in round 2 of a study at the Minnesota Road Research Facility (MnROAD) where we supplied our ASTM C1157 cement as an ultra low-carbon binder for our test cell. This is the first time it has been used in a mainline paving application, and it performed beautifully with the paver—just as planned! The study included 8 cells, one of which served as a control, while the others explored sustainable low-carbon technologies. Our goal is to benefit all U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) by enabling the deployment of these low-carbon alternatives in the future. This achievement underscores our commitment to sustainable infrastructure, ensuring strong performance for three years after construction. A big thanks to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, MnROAD, Braun Intertec Corporation and Sutter Engineering LLC for their support in this project. Together, we can create a greener tomorrow. 🌱 #sustainability #lowcarbonconcrete #lowcarbonsolutions #dot #roadway #constructionindustry #lowcarbonfuture #lowcarbonfootprint
With high volume projects, Ozinga On-Site can set up a mobile plant near the job site that produces the same quality concrete to cut down on wait times, truck traffic, and and transportation costs. Having a mobile plant maximizes efficiency for large scale jobs and helps with the demand of strict construction schedules. You don’t need much in terms of space or time to get the concrete ready to pour. This timelapse shows one of our mobile plants that was constructed on-site at the Gary International Airport days before it would produce 3000 yards per day to pave an airport runway in only 12 days!

CEO at Ozinga | 5th-Generation American 🇺🇸 Family Enterprise - 100 Years in 2028 | Carbon Neutral Concrete by 2030
Thank you to Justin Worland at TIME for the coverage on industrial decarbonization. It’s a very dynamic time in the space and Justin does a great job of capturing the current state of affairs. At Ozinga, our goal is to supply carbon neutral concrete by 2030. We’re building relationships with a growing number of likeminded stakeholders across the entire value chain to achieve that goal. 28 years of driving and Dave Smith still says there’s no normal day! Our drivers see new sights, take new roads and pour at new jobs every day. Thank you, Dave, for your dedication to your work and thank you, drivers, for representing the stripes well! #NationalDriverAppreciationWeek
If we had an NFL hype video for our drivers…this would be it. Our drivers are our Superbowl team every 👏 year 👏 #constructionindustry #NationalTruckDriverAppreciationWeek
Happy National Truck Driver Appreciation Week! One of our favorite weeks of the year is here again! We are so excited to showcase the people who keep our materials moving and spread joy to our customers and community daily. Thank you, drivers, for all you do. We are excited to celebrate you this week and beyond🫶
On August 8, 2024, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. demonstrated a series of slab-on-ground low-embodied carbon concrete placements for The Open Compute Project (OCP), the nonprofit organization bringing hyperscale innovations to the data center industry, which represents Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, Meta, and Microsoft. It was exciting to work with WJE and Concrete Strategies LLC. on this project as we developed the low-embodied carbon concrete mixes in our lab, targeting a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to greater than 50% per cubic yard. The test results from this pour will be used to better understand areas of risk, possible mitigation strategies, and ways to further optimize the mixtures to deliver low-embodied carbon concrete that works for the needs of data centers. Participating in test pours and getting low-carbon concrete on the ground is pivotal at this time as we move towards a low-carbon future. "This groundbreaking demonstration of low-embodied carbon concrete shows the enormous potential in rethinking traditional construction practices and embracing innovative solutions that prioritize environmental stewardship." -Shen Jackson, Director of Strategy and Incubation, Google Data Centers For more details on this project, visit: https://lnkd.in/g8jnEF7T To learn more about our sustainable building solutions, visit: ozinga.com/sustainability
