On August 8, 2024, Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. demonstrated a series of slab-on-ground low-embodied carbon concrete placements for The Open Compute Project (OCP), the nonprofit organization bringing hyperscale innovations to the data center industry, which represents Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google, Meta, and Microsoft. It was exciting to work with WJE and Concrete Strategies LLC. on this project as we developed the low-embodied carbon concrete mixes in our lab, targeting a significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions to greater than 50% per cubic yard. The test results from this pour will be used to better understand areas of risk, possible mitigation strategies, and ways to further optimize the mixtures to deliver low-embodied carbon concrete that works for the needs of data centers. Participating in test pours and getting low-carbon concrete on the ground is pivotal at this time as we move towards a low-carbon future. "This groundbreaking demonstration of low-embodied carbon concrete shows the enormous potential in rethinking traditional construction practices and embracing innovative solutions that prioritize environmental stewardship." -Shen Jackson, Director of Strategy and Incubation, Google Data Centers For more details on this project, visit: https://lnkd.in/g8jnEF7T To learn more about our sustainable building solutions, visit: ozinga.com/sustainability

Leon’s Heroes honors military veterans, law enforcement, and first responders. We had the honor of participating in the Leon’s Heroes 5K & 10K races with nearly 50 Ozinga team members to honor the men and women who protect our freedoms. Thank you to everyone who put this race on, volunteered, ran and most importantly, our country’s heroes 🇺🇸

Five of our outstanding drivers put their skills to the test at the IRMCA - Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association’s 16th Annual Driver Competition! We were thrilled to support Nick Devaney, Kelly Jenkins, Phil Kickert, Garret Lytle, and Jared Reynhout as they tackled ten challenging events designed to showcase their expertise behind the wheel. The competition included a written test, a pre-trip truck inspection and skills challenges such as a tennis ball drive through, “chute-ing” basketballs into hoops, tight turns and parallel parking. Participating in this event is a big highlight of our year and we cannot thank IRMCA enough for hosting! Excited to compete in the main event in October🙌

You’ve looked at the nutritional label to see what’s in your food, have you ever looked to see what’s in your concrete? EPD’s (Environmental Product Declarations) are like a nutritional food label for concrete. They report transparently and objectively, with third party verified data, about the environmental impact of materials through a life cycle perspective. In a production state, an EPD will reflect the carbon emissions from the Extraction Upstream Production (A1) -> Transportation to the Facility (A2) -> Manufacturer Process (A3). Request an EPD from us and see the environmental impact of your concrete: https://lnkd.in/gztJzQyZ #carbonfootprint #sustainability #architecture #constructionindustry #lowcarbonfuture

We hosted our 2nd Annual Ozinga Foundation event and it was extremely humbling to see so many organizations who have been impacted by our giving this year. We had 150 people from 115 different organizations who give so much for the benefit of their communities share their experiences and network together. To watch them thrive is a dream and an inspiration. Thank you to our Director of the foundation, Eric Holtrop, for working with these organizations and allowing us to make a positive impact. Thank you to Altar Fly Fishing for presenting and Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church for hosting!
