City Team, a non-denominational organization located in Chester, PA, hosted their annual backpack giveaway at Subaru Stadium last Sunday for students in grades K-12. PA Health & Wellness Member Retention Specialist, Erica N Kearse, was on-site representing Ambetter from PA Health & Wellness, while providing school supplies and literature to attendees.

PA Health & Wellness Health Equity Specialist, Tiesha Grundy, attended a community meeting with Northwest Summit in collaboration with Face to Face, a group of nonprofit organizations who are dedicated to the Northwest section of Philadelphia residents and the surrounding communities to bridge gaps for the underserved. Tiesha presented a PA Health & Wellness overview and networked with several community-based organizations to explore partnership opportunities to better serve the communities in the Southeast PA region. #Philadelphia #Pennsylvania #HealthEquity

Andrea Vettori, MSN, CRNP, is the founder and executive director of Sanctuary Farm Philadelphia, an urban farm located right in North Philadelphia. She met with PA Health & Wellness Health Equity Specialist, Tiesha Grundy, for a tour and cooking demonstration. The produce is home grown on the grounds of Sanctuary Farm and are used to make healthy foods, as well as to introduce the community to new recipes. Lisa Brown, Chef and Nutrition Specialist, provides weekly demonstrations. Their mission is “Digging Deep to Harvest Healthy Lives." Additionally, those who visit the farm are able to get their routine blood pressure checks! #philadelphia #pennsylvania #community

Senior Expo 2024, sponsored by State Rep. Clint Owlett and the Tioga County Partnership for Community Heath, was held last weekend at the Wellsboro Area High School in Tioga County. Over 400 seniors received valuable information and learned about resources in their community as they age in place.

PA Health & Wellness (PHW) participated in the Harrisburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.’s third annual Community Day at Soldier’s Grove. The event provided food, school giveaways, and other resources. PHW's Kay Gore and Gina Colon were on-site to provide valuable information on how to access SNAP benefits and encourage attendees to utilize their farmer’s market for fresh fruits and vegetables.

PA Health & Wellness (PHW) partnered with the Affordable Housing Centers of Philadelphia (AHCOPA) Tuesday, July 23 at the Firehouse Active Adult Senior Center in West Philadelphia for a free Will Workshop. The workshop was an opportunity for attendees to receive information on protecting their homes and their families by taking the steps in writing a will. This was also an opportunity for AHCOPA to expound on how and why to write a will. Derrick Thomas, Program Manager, and Dot Goldberger, Paralegal, provided a wealth of information and there was an opportunity to sign up to schedule an appointment with a Paralegal. What a great turnout!
