It’s still January, but the appearance of green garlic whispers the nigh arrival of spring. Sometimes called young garlic or spring garlic, green garlic can be confused with other spring alliums, but can be identified by its delicate scent and its flat rather than tubular leaves. Mild and sweet, this gem can be prepped like young leeks, and used raw in recipes calling for garlic or scallions. #local #organic #greengarlic #spring #garlic #californiagrown #seasonalproduce #eattheseasons #eatyourgreens #farmtotable #farmtofork #knowyourfarmer #buylocal #eatlocal #localproduce #pacificproduce #exceptionalservice #everytable #everyday

An Italian heirloom, broccoli Di Cicco is known for its tender, smaller florets and long, slender stems. It’s a "multi-cut" sprouting brassica variety, which means the central head and side shoots mature at different times, allowing several harvests or 'cuts' throughout the growing season. Mild and sweet with a hint of earthiness, it’s a versatile gem perfect for roasting, sautéing, or grilling. Just remember to blanch it in slightly salted water and shock quickly in ice water to maintain its emerald color. #broccolidicicco #californiagrown #heirloom #broccoli #california #seasonalproduce #eattheseasons #seasonalproduce #seasonaleating #inseasonnow #knowyourfarmer #farmtotable #farmtofork #buylocal #eatlocal #localproduce #pacificproduce #exceptionalservice #everytable #everyday

"Eureka!" — the iconic ancient Greek exclamation meaning "I have found it!" — was adopted as California's state motto to honor the Gold Rush (1848–1855). The discovery of Eureka lemons in 1858 Los Angeles inspired the same name. A true lemon of Italian origin, not a hybrid, Eureka lemons are bright, tangy, and endlessly versatile. Both their juice and zest will brighten most savory and sweet dishes. #eurekalemon #california #citrus #fruit #californiagrown #lemon #inseasonnow #citrusseason #seasonalproduce #seasonaleating #eattheseasons #knowyourfarmer #farmtotable #farmtofork #supportlocal #buylocal #eatlocal #localproduce #pacificproduce #exceptionalservice #everytable #everyday

The ongoing fires around Los Angeles have caused immense devastation, impacting many of our families, friends, and colleagues. In the Bay Area, we understand the toll such disasters take on a community. We are grateful for the bravery and tireless work of the wide network of first responders and @California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). Thank you! To join the relief efforts, we've decided to send food to restaurants and chefs providing meals to first responders and those affected. A heartfelt thank you to TIMES PRODUCE INC, LASF Tranport and meadow ramsey from Kismet restaurant for helping us coordinate the pick up and distribution. If you can contribute, please consider donating to these trusted organizations: California Community Foundation American Red Cross World Central Kitchen

Bright orange on the outside but red fleshed on the inside, Cara Caras, or red navel oranges, are less acidic than other navel oranges, seedless, and with sweet notes of berries. This makes them ideal to enjoy as is, or sliced into salads and desserts, or juiced for sauces and cocktails. A perfect dose of sunshine on these colder winter days. #caracaraoranges #caracara #orange #california #citrus #californiagrown #citrusfruit #citrusfresh #sunshine #seasonalproduce #eattheseasons #farmtotable #farmtofork #buylocal #eatlocal #localproduce #pacificproduce #exceptionalservice #everytable #everyday

Lightly sweet and mildly spicy, hinona turnips, also known as hinona kabu turnips, resemble radishes in flavor and texture, but can grow to over a foot in length. Great shaved into salads, caramelized with butter, roasted with other root vegetables, or pickled as a side dish. And don’t forget the purple and green peppery leaves! They’re beautiful sautéed or stir fried. Native to Southeast Asia, makrut limes, also known as Thai limes or more controversial kaffir limes, are a fragrant citrus prized for their aromatic zest (and leaves) and sharp sour juice. A defining ingredient in Thai and Indonesian cuisines, makrut is used to infuse curries, soups and sauces, and a popular substitution to embolden recipes calling for lime, like desserts and cocktails. 🎶: Gimme That Sunshine | Animal Island #makrutlime #thailime #lime #kaffirlime #californiagrown #citrus #california #citrusfruit #citrusseason #eattheseasons #seasonalproduce #seasonaleating #inseasonnow #fruit #knowyourfarmer #farmtotable #farmtofork #buylocal #eatlocal #localproduce #pacificproduce #exceptionalservice #everytable #everyday

Crisp and flavorful, red Malbec carrots are an imperator type hybrid, a cross between Nantes and Chantenay carrots, and known for their high sugar content. These beauties were grown by COUNTY LINE HARVEST INC - an organic farm operating in Petaluma, and part of the year in Thermal in the Coachella Valley in Southern California. David Retsky started the farm in 2000, and is still “deeply passionate about being good stewards of the land while providing the freshest, most flavorful produce possible”.
