We host a monthly town hall to get live feedback from our residents. Tonight, I tried to answer some really tough questions as directly & compassionately as I could. As may be expected, we deal with some really difficult situations 24/7/365, and our team consistently channels their “care, show, prove” wherever possible. So it was incredibly refreshing when closing out the meeting when 2 different women, both on fixed income, chimed in to thank us for what we’re doing, acknowledging that they would still be homeless without us. One of them told us she had “the best host ever.” The other celebrated her 5th anniversary in her home after moving directly from being unhoused. I’m not gonna lie. That feels really good; and I was struggling to hold onto my emotions as we signed off. We’ll never be perfect. But we’re doing good, important work; and we’ll keep getting better — #oneroomatatime
