Hearing loss can occur from a sudden,Hearing loss can occur from a single, sudden, intense noise, such as an explosion, or can develop gradually, over months and years of exposure to less intense noises. To protect your hearing: • Adhere to posted warning signs • Follow your employer's recommendations on the use of hearingprotectors • Participate In annual audiograms • Participate In workplace exposure assessments • Attend training • Record and communicate work-related hearing loss cases, including any incidents of ringing or buzzing ears • Follow the hearing protection standards and guidelines your employer provides • Use the selected hearing protectors your employer provides Warning signs of hearing loss: • Ringing ears • Buzzing ears • You cannot hear or talk to someone who is an arm's length away without raising your voice When must hearing protection be provided and worn? • While working In areas that require hearing protection. • The "Best Practices" approach to hearing protection requires that whenever a worker's noise exposure is at or above an 8-hour average of 85 decibels, hearing protection should be worn. • The best defense against hearing loss ls to use engineering and work-practice controls to eliminate the excessive exposure wherever possible. • Wear protection if you are exposed to loud noises Intermittently • Rule of thumb: If you have to raise your voice to talk to someone, you are in an area where the noise level Is at or above 85 decibels, and you should be wearing hearing protection. #hearingconservation #safetytip #workplacesafety #earprotection #protecthearing

Stormwater discharge occurs as rainfall and snow melt carry pollutants to the surface and groundwater. In many areas, this is the single largest source of water quality issues. Here is how you can help prevent issues: -Identify Pollutants: Assess indoor and outdoor operations to identify potential pollution sources. Outdoor pollutants may include wood chips, cardboard, nails, engine fluids, or metal debris from trucks and storage bins. -Indoor Considerations: Even activities contained inside can be pollution sources if pollutants like wood dust or liquid wastes are improperly managed and escape outside. -Housekeeping: Maintain a clean facility to prevent stormwater pollution. Regularly inspect and clean areas prone to debris buildup (e.g., dock doors, storm drains, trash bins). -Material Storage: Store potential pollutants properly. Use spill containment pallets for large drums and seal smaller containers to prevent spillage. -Outside Storage Precautions: If outdoor storage of equipment or pallets is necessary, use covers, enclosures, or berms to reduce stormwater contamination risk. -Labeling & Containers: Ensure all chemicals are stored in their original containers or properly labeled, and inspect for leaks regularly. -Spill Management: Clean up spills immediately using absorbent materials (like Oil-Dri or kitty litter). Dispose of hazardous and industrial waste properly, and contact Safety for assistance. #tipofweek #safetytip #workplacesafety #stormwater #prevention
