  • We are ecstatic about our second Leapfrog "A" rating in a row! This coveted rating from The Leapfrog Group means that we are providing excellent patient safety and quality - and we are so proud of that! All of our team members and medical staff have contributed to this honor, and we thank each and every one of them for attaining this achievement. Let's move forward to number 3!

  • Decreasing the use of indwelling urinary catheters is a key prevention for catheter-associated urinary tract infections (CAUTI). The team approach brought in key staff members such as ED, Education, Physicians, and Hospital leadership with continued education and discussion with staff on the increased use of Foley alternatives. The ED staff's determination and team efforts led PRMC to achieve a foley-free zone, decreasing catheter insertion rates in the first two months of implementation. PRMC has achieved a foley-free, foley-light Emergency Department by providing consistent feedback and a team approach in tackling this difficult issue. Way to go, ED team!

  • It was a Shakeout! We conducted an earthquake drill at a specific time and announced it over the PA system. The exercise is essential for testing our preparedness and response capabilities at the departmental level. Each department received a folder containing important materials including recommended earthquake safety actions, observer evaluation monitoring form, and participant sign-in sheet. Photos were taken of team members actually practicing the drop, cover, and hold-on exercise! We do live in an earthquake country, so we need this practice exercise to keep it fresh in our minds.

  • PRMC prioritizes patient safety, supports rapid decision-making, and enhances staff readiness through training and drills. The Incident Commander activated the Emergency Operations Plan and utilized the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), essential for effective emergency management during a planned I.T. Downtime. Here, our Hospital Incident Command was activated from 7:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. to support mission-critical operations for business continuity. Additionally, it allows for continuous improvement by evaluating 'After Action' Reports. Overall, HICS ensures efficient and coordinated procedures throughout all Emergency Management phases: Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Mitigation. Way to do it, team!
