  • 🌊 Protecting Caribbean ecosystems is vital for tourism! 🐠 On September 26th and October 1st, PADF and USAID launched the USAID Caribbean Sustainable Ecosystems Activity in the #DominicanRepublic and #Jamaica. In his opening remarks Mr. Robert Clink emphasized the importance of maintaining the health and beauty of the Caribbean ecosystem, which draws $9.5 billion in annual tourist expenditure. He warned that “the marine and coastal ecosystems are at high risk of environmental degradation due to the impacts of human activities” which “pose a threat not only to the environment, but also to those who depend on these ecosystems for their food and livelihoods.” Over the course of five years, the program will seek to leverage the business interests and corporate social responsibility commitments of tourism actors to sustainably strengthen ecosystem management and reduce threats to marine biodiversity, all while promoting sustainable development in the Caribbean. 🤝 Our 3 key objectives include: -             🪸Improved management of marine protected areas -             ♻️Improved solid waste management practices -             🎣Increased sustainability of the fisheries sector #EcoTourism #ResponsibleTourism #SustainableTourism #ProtectOurOceans #MarineConservation #SolidWasteManagement #SustainableFishing  #USAIDDR

  • In #Brazil, PADF works hand in hand with the government’s Operação Acolhida (Operation Welcome) to provide vital humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Venezuelans entering the country’s northern border. Last week, we delivered 1,000 hygiene kits for distribution at the Operação Acolhida shelters in Boa Vista and Pacaraima. These kits include essential products such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, repellent, detergent, and more to ensure that migrants have access to basic hygiene necessities, helping them maintain their dignity and well-being during this challenging time. 💪❤️
