Countless first responders have passed from 9/11 related illnesses, and cancer continues to be the most dangerous threat to a fire fighter’s health and safety today No longer can we allow our brave fire fighters to face this disease alone. Our partners FDNY Fired Up for a Cure are hosting their first Annual Remembrance and Honor 5k Family Walk/Run this Saturday, October 26. We invite you to join or donate to this important event and support our heroic NY fire fighters and their loved ones. Pancreatic Cancer North America funds innovative research to raise survival rates.
About us
Pancreatic Cancer North America (formally PancONE Network Inc.) aims to disrupt the traditional approach to discovery in pancreatic cancer by bringing together multiple sectors, innovations, and novel methods to drive real change. Pancreatic cancer is known as the world’s toughest cancer. Over the past 50 years, we’ve seen only marginal improvements in survival and yet it remains one of the most overlooked and underfunded cancers. Pancreatic Cancer North America, together with our partners at Pancreatic Cancer Canada, have decided that enough is enough. We’ve raised enough sympathy – it is time to raise survival rates.

We are witnessing increasing rates of pancreatic and 17 other cancers among younger generations. Eileen O'Reilly, a gastrointestinal medical oncologist at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, shared with with BBC News that she sees cases of pancreatic cancer in patients under 40 nearly every week. "These are people in the prime of life, who are starting families and have everything to live for. The implications for society are profound." This frightening rise in early onset pancreatic cancer underscores the importance of not only knowing the signs and symptoms, but also reinforces an urgent need for patient empowerment. With Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month quickly approaching, this topic is one we'll continue to focus on throughout November and the coming months. Read more on our website: https://lnkd.in/eJnfhZZD

News of this truly remarkable investment by philanthropist A. Emmet Stephenson Jr. and his daughter Tessa Stephenson to fund pancreatic cancer research is exactly how we begin to shift the trajectory of this deadly disease. Over the next few months, Pancreatic Cancer Canada and Pancreatic Cancer North America will answer the call through the development of a new three-year strategic plan outlining our commitment to a future where we don’t talk about pancreatic cancer as a death sentence but rather a survivable cancer. We have seen progress made against cancers like breast, prostate, colon and others when effective screening and early detection tools are utilized. Unfortunately, there are still no standard screening tests for pancreatic cancer. There is an immense desire – and even desperation – in our community for broader, more timely and accessible early detection tools. It's why we are proud to invest in the latest research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Learn more on our website: https://lnkd.in/eKiiC4MN

Thanks to the support of our dedicated donors, we are closer to what is considered the “holy grail” in clinical and research communities. Pancreatic Cancer North America and Pancreatic Cancer Canada are proud to announce our investment towards innovative early detection research at MD Anderson Cancer Center. By using radiomics and artificial intelligence, this study aims to address the current lack of screening protocols so that pancreatic cancer can be detected at an earlier, curable stage.
