An inclusive and representative democracy is not built overnight. Women’s Equality Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the resilience and achievements of the suffragettes who fought for women’s right to vote– but also recognize and support continued efforts to protect and expand voting rights. At Panorama, we believe that a thriving government must reflect the diversity of its people and enable citizens to vote for leaders who represent them. This is why The Ascend Fund, powered by Panorama Global, pools philanthropic capital to invest in nonpartisan, nonprofit organizations dedicated to breaking down the barriers that prevent women from running for office - and winning. As we approach a historic election, Women’s Equality Day 2024 serves as a reminder of the importance of exercising the right to vote. The philanthropic sector increasingly recognizes that investing in women and girls is crucial for our world's progress. Our partners at Gender Funders CoLab highlight the challenges that private organizations face in uniting around initiatives that advance women’s rights. To address this, they brought together some of the largest private foundations, creating a community of funders to mobilize resources. Between 2014 and 2023, CoLab members moved an impressive $2.2 billion toward women’s rights and gender equality! A representative at Shake the Table comments that “women’s funds play critical roles in moving money to groups traditionally locked out of mainstream funding opportunities." Panorama is dedicated to empowering organizations that champion women and girls, driving a faster and more impactful shift toward global gender equity. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3AcPCQc
