Congratulations to Jared Sutton for his appointment as Vice Chair of the State Bar of Arizona's Civil Practice and Procedure Committee. The committee meets regularly to discuss how to improve civil litigation practice in State courts, including potential changes to the Arizona Rules of Civil Procedure. Keep up the great work, Jared.

Congratulations to Chuck Steese, Bob McKirgan, and Randy Papetti for their recognition by Chambers and Partners for their work in Commercial Litigation.

Congratulations to our pro bono client EG, who fled Guatemala seeking protection in the United States. He was held in detention for the past six months and requested a hearing to be released on bond.    Our attorneys Heather Robles and Anita Rocha skillfully represented EG in his bond hearing, working alongside the adult pro bono team at the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project.   Last week we learned the great news that the immigration court granted EG’s request and set a reasonable bond for his release. Anita met with EG after he was released (photo below), knowing how scared he had been for so many months in detention, so that he would see a friendly face once he was free. She made sure he had clean clothes to change into and supplies for his journey, and also ensured he was able to fly safely to another state, where he will live with relatives while he awaits his merits hearing. We were thrilled to see such a deserving client obtain this much needed relief. PSWM is proud to support the mission and extraordinary work of the Florence Project.

With graduation season upon us, it's fun to share a small world experience from 1985. Salt River Project honored a senior from each high school in the Valley and published a full-page ad in the Phoenix Gazette Newspaper. Included among SRP's "Spotlight on Excellence" are Jon Weiss from Central HS and Bruce Samuels from Saguaro. Who knew that a decade later they'd start practicing law together; they have been friends and law partners ever since then. Congratulations to all the graduates this season.
