As the Pacific Northwest faces yet another record-breaking heat wave, we're reminded of the dangers that heat can pose for those living in vulnerable housing types. Parametrix led a cooling needs study for the Oregon Department of Energy to understand the prevalence of and need for additional cooling equipment as well as opportunities and barriers. The outcome was a comprehensive report complete with cost analyses and recommendations, a user-friendly heat vulnerability index map, and a captivating webpage that tells the story of the study and its implications. 🌟#EmployeeOwnerSpotlight 🌟 Meet Maclean Grosel, PE, an engineer with our Northern California Transportation team who recently earned his professional engineer license! 🚲 Specializing in complete streets, traffic signals, and traffic operations, Mac is passionate about improving the active transportation network in his community. ⚛️ His love of math, science, and desire to understand how things work led him to pursue a career in engineering. 🚧 Favorite project? The City of Larkspur Doherty Drive Complete Streets project, one of the first he had the opportunity to see through to construction. 🌲 Now that he's done studying, he plans to get back to some of his hobbies - including cooking and enjoying the outdoors. Congratulations, Mac!

Congratulations to The Tulalip Tribes on receiving a $5 million U.S. Department of Transportation RAISE grant for upgrades to two interchanges along I-5. Parametrix partnered with the Tulalip Tribes to write the winning application. “Frequently, I-5 traffic exiting to enter Tulalip Tribes or the City of Marysville at both interchanges experience off ramp backups that can extend back on to the I-5 mainline lanes of traffic,” a webpage for the project states. “This impacts the Tribes and the City as well as the greater Snohomish County area, interstate travel and commerce, and even international trade with Canada.” Read more: https://ow.ly/wj5V50St7jK
