About us

Parcel Insurance Plan was founded in 1966 with the mission to provide dramatically lower-cost package insurance to business shippers, while offering superior customer and claims service. PIP has been owned by Brown & Brown Insurance, the world's 7th largest insurance brokerage, since 2001. Today, thousands of businesses in hundreds of industries throughout the country ship packages insured by PIP. Since its inception, Parcel Insurance Plan has been underwritten by Fireman's Fund Insurance Company. Fireman's Fund has been part of the Allianz Group since 1991, and we are excited to share that Fireman's Fund has become integrated with and rebranded as Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty (Allianz), one of the world's most admired companies. Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty is rated A+ Excellent by A.M. Best. No other provider of third party insurance has had as long a relationship with such a strong brand serving your insurance needs. In 2000, Parcel Insurance Plan created proprietary software in response to increasing customer interest in electronic reporting. Currently, ERIN 2000 works in combination with both UPS Online WorldShip and FedEx Ship Manager®. ERIN 2000 is simple to install, easy to use and best of all it's FREE. There are no calculations to perform. Just a few clicks on your computer each month provides all the reporting we need! Automated PIP monthly reports are also available from many third-party shipping manifest systems. We invite you to consider PIP when making your shipping insurance decision. We offer exceptional value, ease of use and superior claims handling. We insure your shipments, both domestic and international, on these carriers: DHL, FedEx, UPS, U.S. Postal Service and other regional and national carriers. We also provide freight insurance for palletized shipments.

It’s been a big week for FedEx. The carrier has officially launched its fdx platform for U.S. customers. The tool is designed to help e-commerce businesses manage shipping, fulfillment and returns. But what’s interesting is that fdx supports multiple carriers, including UPS, USPS and DHL, which could offer more flexibility for businesses not solely relying on FedEx. The platform also integrates with Shopify, Etsy and other systems to streamline processes. As it rolls out new features over time, it’s worth watching how fdx might impact shipping strategies for businesses of all sizes. Read more: https://hubs.la/Q02T53800
