Fixing America's Broken Fast Chargers with Kameale Terry Turn your videos into live streams with Restream https://restre.am/ANIm Perhaps the hottest topic in the current landscape of the EV charging industry, is the issue of reliability and uptime. Various studies, and numerous articles, have catalogued the often-poor charging experience at many charging stations - as many as 25% of fast chargers may not be able to successfully charge an EV! For this episode of EV InSIDER LIVE Series, our hosts Brian O'Leary and Loren McDonald are joined by Kameale Terry, Co-Founder and CEO of ChargerHelp, Inc. - a company that enables on-demand repair of electric vehicle charging stations. Kameale will help us unpack the reliability and uptime challenges facing the DC fast charging industry and outline potential solutions. Don't miss this opportunity to gain expert insight into the evolving landscape of EV charging.

🥇 Most Interesting 🥇 Terra.do runs a fantastic program to teach and guide people towards careers in climate. For the final project in the most recent class run by Jaime Curtis & Jason Curtis of Option Zero, EVSession provided data to a team looking to study the problem of charging in cold weather. 👏 Congrats to Ben Jedlovec and Philip Y Li for winning the Most Interesting Presentation award for their analysis of charging behavior during the January cold snap. The moral of the story: If your charging station is reliable, your utilization can increase significantly during major weather events.

Great news for the states and municipalities awarded their piece of the NEVI Reliability and Accessibility Accelerator grant money. We're continuing to follow this space to understand which stations are being upgraded and which CPOs are benefiting from these funds. We can't wait to see the details behind the Town of Norwood, MA 4-unit upgrade for $240,000! #evcharging #nevi #evcharginginfrastructure
The NEVI and CFI programs are focused on making the national #EV charging network BIGGER, while USDOT’s just announced Reliability and Accessibility Program will help make the network BETTER. Congratulations to the 24 recipients in 20 states that were just awarded nearly $150 million to repair or replace approximately 4,500 broken EV chargers and bring them up to code. https://lnkd.in/d7SxuEj7

Significantly More Charging Units Temporarily Unavailable (TU) We've analyzed the official list of charging units eligible for federal funding under the DOT's $100M RAA grant program and found that the final data totals are significantly higher than what we and state DOTs were able to publicly track!* The table below shows the L2 and DCFC ports officially marked TU and the percentage of the overall network this represents for each CPO. Here are some of the highlights: L2 ⚡️ One third of Blink's L2 sites have at least 1 unit marked for eligibility. ⚡️50% of EV Connect's L2 units are eligible for funding. ⚡️Nearly 1 in 3 eVgo L2 units are flagged for the repair or replacement program. ⚡️OpConnect, Shell Recharge, and EVRange have more than 15% of their sites impacted. DCFC ⚡️Nearly 1 in 3 of Electrify America's sites contain at least 1 unit that is eligible for the program. ⚡️eVgo is not far behind with units flagged at nearly 29% of their listed public sites. ⚡️Blink, OpConnect, Shell Recharge, Volta and EVRange have noticeable numbers of their overall sites eligible for the program. CPOs not listed in the table have zero units marked Temporarily Unavailable. Of the larger networks, that includes Tesla's L2 Destination Charger network as well as their DCFC Supercharger network, Francis Energy Charging Network (FCN), and EVCS's west coast network. *We've asked the RAA team why the public AFDC data retrieved on Oct 11 and 12 is significantly lower than the official final list. We're awaiting a response. #evcharging #evcharginginfrastructure

The final tally is in. To be eligible for the $100M in RAA funding, charging stations must be marked Temporarily Unavailable (TU) as of Oct 11. We've been tracking the daily change in these numbers and two networks stand out: ◾️In the last 3 days, Electrify America has added 30 stations representing 133 DC Fast charging plugs. That's 3% of their total station count. We did some spot analysis of activity at these 30 stations. While there certainly are issues, most of these plugs have had successful charging sessions this week. ◾️Last week, the Shell Recharge team nearly quadrupled their L2 chargers under the TU tag while their DC fast charging plug count went up 2.5 times. It's now up to the states to use this list to decide if they will apply for RAA funds by the Nov 13 deadline. Of course, California outpaces all other states with 1903 L2 and 190 DC chargers on the list. Many states have less than 10 entries and may not find the effort worth the reward. The DOT FHA site is expected to have more information and the official list soon: https://lnkd.in/gWSNZ2PQ #evcharging #evcharginginfrastructure
