You’re giving them the tools so that they can lead the child and support the child.” ➕ With parents and caregivers leading the way, Ms. Phillips-Davis and the rest of the home visiting staff will be visiting homes twice a week. Our NY ParentChild+ Director, Andre Eaton, attended the retreat and spoke on a panel about family engagement strategies. For Andre, "strong family engagement happens when families have a primary and meaningful role in all decision-making that impacts every young person and their families." Early investment in children makes good sense. According to University of Chicago Economics Professor James J. Heckman, home visiting programs like ours "warrants more investment" because it supports both the child and their family and sets them up for success. Thanks to Represenative Adriano Espaillat for supporting our appropriations request to expand our work in New York! With his support, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Chuck Schumer have recommended ParentChild+ for funding by the Senate Appropriations Committee.

On behalf of our New York ParentChild+ sites, a big thank you to Senator Kirsten Gillibrand + Senator Chuck Schumer for recommending our Home-Based Child Care model for funding from the Senate Appropriations Committee! We are honored to be on the list for consideration and grateful for your support. Our Home-Based Child Care model supports child care providers caring for multiple children in their homes with 48 home visits over 24 weeks. Early Learning Specialists bring books, learning materials and ideas. Together with providers they set goals, reflect on their work, and build skills. Providers enhance their support for families and for children's school readiness now and in the future.

Join us in welcoming our new Chief Advancement Officer, Meagan Spencer!   Meagan leads fundraising and communications for ParentChild+. As a mother of young children, Meagan connects personally with ParentChild+’s mission and is committed to ensuring that all families, regardless of their race, socio-economic status, or zip code have equitable resources to succeed from the start. For over a decade, Meagan has worked in various organizations addressing healthcare disparities, food insecurity, educational gaps, and inequities in workforce development in historically marginalized communities. Meagan is excited to jump into the work of building critical early opportunities for families that lead to equity in school readiness for all children!    We are so glad to have her on our National Center team!

The fight for American Independence was both rich and complex, involving not only the pursuit of liberty but also the perpetuation of structural violence and oppression. For this reason, we honor not only America’s founding fathers, such as Thomas Jefferson and Alexander Hamilton, but also the voices they often ignored and marginalized. These voices include those of indigenous nations people, enslaved people, coerced laborers, migrants, and marginalized gender identities, whose perspectives and strivings equally shaped the world-renowned spirit of American freedom.
