As stated by the National Institutes of Health, depression affects roughly 6% of seniors over 60 and up to 27% of those over 85. Despite its prevalence, many cases go undetected because symptoms can mimic age-related changes, such as fatigue, loss of appetite, and cognitive decline. Early detection of these signs is vital for effective support and enhanced well-being.
