Parkland also developed Ellenwood Condominiums in Montague, Michigan; Union Square Condominiums, Boardwalk Condominiums, Cityview Condominiums, and Monroe Terrace Condominiums in Grand Rapids, Michigan; the 70-waterfront homesite community, Terrace Point Landing, in Muskegon, Michigan; and is in the process of developing the former Shaw Walker Furniture Company and Sappi Paper Mill in Muskegon into thousands of attainable housing units to help address the current housing crisis in West Michigan.

When Parkland Properties decided to pursue the Shaw Walker redevelopment, we quickly learned the importance of this property to the local community. Everyone in Muskegon knew someone whether it was a relative or a friend that worked at this factory. It has been Parkland’s mission to return this property to a meaningful use and a sense of pride once again for the local community. With that said, we are happy to share what we have been working on for the last year. Introducing ‘The Shaw’ - a mixed use development with condos, apartments and retail, at the heart of downtown Muskegon!

Parkland Properties of Michigan has engaged Grand Rapids-based AHC Hospitality to manage our hospitality assets in downtown Muskegon. Parkland Properties and AHC Hospitality believe the growth of tourism in Grand Rapids and Muskegon are important drivers in the continued growth of West Michigan. They also believe the collaboration between the largest hospitality operator in Grand Rapids and the largest operator on the lakeshore, plus the addition of the VanDyk Mortgage Convention Center to AHC Hospitality’s management portfolio, will create long term benefits to the Muskegon and West Michigan region. It is important to Parkland Properties and the City of Muskegon to ensure that this former paper mill site is safely redeveloped. The first step in this process was obtaining an approved PUD / site plan that we can use as the basis for our planning and engineering. We are thankful to the City for their continued partnership and trust, as we work on this major waterfront transformation for Muskegon.
