We've all rejoiced at the sight of a "free parking" sign. But is it truly free? 🤔 Let's peel back the layers. Many cities replace paid parking with time-restricted free parking (like "2-hour zones") which seems like a perk, but the reality is these spaces are subsidized by taxpayers. The costs of maintaining these streets, including cleaning and enforcement, are factored into your property taxes. So, in a way, you're already paying for that "free" spot. How we use an empty parking spot can impact everything from local businesses to public transportation. Not only that, but free parking encourages car dependency, consumes valuable urban space, and contributes to traffic congestion and pollution. With digital payment solutions, cities can ditch outdated meters, reduce driver frustration, and generate additional revenue. These funds can be reinvested directly into improving city infrastructure, creating a win-win for everyone. 🤝 #freeparking #parking #urbanplanning #smartcities

Johannes Mark, Head of Global Parking Insights at EasyPark Group, gave an exclusive interview with Automotive Industries. In it, he dives deep into how lidar technology is transforming urban parking through ParkMobile Insights. "Cities need to understand how to balance parking supply and demand to address problems like double-parking, illegal parking, and empty parking spaces/lots," he emphasized. Johannes unpacks the multiple ways accurate parking data can revolutionize city planning, lower housing costs, and improve overall quality of life. He also demonstrates how lidar technology, harnessed through ParkMobile Insights, transforms parking challenges into efficient solutions, ultimately contributing to more livable and sustainable cities. “On average, 25% of public space in US cities is used for parking,” he explained. “By optimizing parking infrastructure to meet actual demand, cities can free up space for other uses, such as public parks, making them more enjoyable for residents and visitors.” Don’t miss the full interview in Automotive Industries for an in-depth look into the future of urban parking. https://lnkd.in/draS9cms #lidartechnology #urbanplanning #smartcities #parkingmanagement #automotiveindustries #lidar

Did you catch ParkMobile's National Sales Manager, Ryan Slack, throwing the first pitch at last night's Cleveland Guardians game? ⚾️ To celebrate ParkMobile's reservations partnership with the Guardians and Progressive Field, Ryan had the honor of beginning last night's winning game against the Baltimore Orioles. In the spring, ParkMobile was announced as the official parking reservation provider for the Cleveland Guardians at Progressive Field, along with PNC Park, home of the Pittsburgh Pirates. These mark our inaugural Major League Baseball (MLB) partnerships and the first time a ParkMobile representative has thrown out a first pitch. Way to go, Ryan! Speaking of venue partnerships, this week we also attended the 99th Annual #IAVM VenueConnect Conference and Trade Show in Portland, Oregon. Chris Corso, Spencer Reichley, and Ryan Slack met with current and future venue partners to discuss how ParkMobile's event solutions can transform venue parking. What a week celebrating our reservations partnerships!
