Each fall, the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics sponsors the world's largest meeting of food and nutrition experts at the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo (FNCE). RDNs, NDTRs, researchers, policymakers, healthcare providers and industry leaders attend FNCE® to address key issues affecting the health of all Americans. This year, Parkview community outreach dietitians, Michelle Bojrab and Kathy Wehrle attended FNCE in Minneapolis, where Michelle presented Parkview’s VeggieRx poster, highlighting the amazing health outcomes and cost savings we’ve seen through our VeggieRx program. We’re pleased to share the team won the Outstanding Abstract Award for their incredible work. Congratulations to all involved! The Indiana Chamber of Commerce celebrated Parkview Health as the 2024 Jackson Lewis Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Champion at its annual DEI Summit on Tuesday at the Ritz Charles in Carmel. The statewide honor recognizes an organization making ardent strides to become a more equitable workplace. Parkview, a Fort Wayne-based healthcare provider with 14 hospitals and 200 provider offices serving northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio, embodies that ideal in its culture, says Indiana Chamber President and CEO Vanessa Green Sinders. “Parkview was one of the first companies in Indiana to focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, and it has continued full speed ahead with initiatives to diversify and offer programs for underrepresented employee groups within its hospitals and other facilities as well as for the clients the organization serves,” she offers. “At Parkview, it goes far beyond forming a mission statement around diversity; it’s about truly bringing everyone to the table, giving them a voice and taking action to ensure equity and inclusion across its vast healthcare operation.” Tina Dukandar, an associate in the Indianapolis office of Jackson Lewis, says there were many “great companies” up for the DEI award this year. She adds that DEI initiatives continue to accelerate and expand at various organizations across the state and that was evident in this year’s pool of nominees up for the award. Parkview has many initiatives to ensure that DEI is woven throughout its culture, Dukandar notes. Parkview was set apart because company officials recognized that “DEI initiatives are not a one-size-fits-all,” says Dukandar, who was on the Jackson Lewis DEI Champion selection committee. “To best serve their diverse workforce and patients, they implemented various initiatives.” For example, Dukandar points out that Parkview has a dedicated DEI recruitment specialist who focuses on building strategic relationships to attract a diverse workforce. “They (also) established several Co-worker Resource Groups, which include groups for faith and belief, veterans and working mothers,” she adds. “These groups provide employees with a platform to connect, share experiences and support each other, fostering a sense of community and belonging. These are just a very few of the initiatives from Parkview Health.” Read the full feature: https://bit.ly/3Yjroxk

Yesterday, Parkview welcomed nearly 200 high school juniors and seniors to “Launch Day,” a new event created by Parkview Education Services to help high school juniors and seniors prepare for graduation, higher education and a career. Students began their day learning from Parkview HR teams on emotional intelligence, resume and interview tips, and steps to map out their career path. They were also able to meet with the admissions teams from local colleges and universities. Some students continued the day with job shadows at Parkview hospitals, outpatient centers and PPG offices. Thank you to the 21 schools across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio who sent students to this opportunity. We look forward to welcoming even more students and schools next year!
