Last week we spent a few days with the City of Pewaukee as they updated their POISED strategic plan. While we were there we also provided a refresh on strengths and team building while introducing even more resources. We’ve enjoyed partnering with them for over 5 years and hearing some of their latest takeaways: 1 the partner-up document and team grid are so helpful as we work to partner with more people, especially in other departments 2 we need to keep all these resources visible so they become second nature 3 accountability is the highest form of praise 4 positive conflict is a good thing and is necessary for healthy teams 5 this was the 2nd time experiencing the strategic planning process. Not only is it valuable, but we got through it in only 8 hours (instead of 12 hours the first time). It’s so efficient and effective. 6 we have a great plan we can share with the rest of the team to understand why we are doing what we do. What is your team hoping to accomplish or overcome? Have you ever hired an executive coach? Or, have you considered it, but don't know which coach is right for you? Finding the right coach for you is personal. You have to find someone that you feel comfortable with and trust. Don't be afraid to interview them and understand their personality, approach, and process. Recently, after our kickoff coaching session with someone, where we explain the process, share some resources, and talk through their goals with them for the upcoming year, they told us, "wow, I've gotten more out of this hour than I did in the last year from my other coach."
