Managing clinical trials effectively is important for accelerating drug development. Some strategies to help boost effectiveness at site-centric trials include:. Streamlining operations: , Ffocusing on reducing problems in the trial sites, especially in logistics, patient recruitment, or data collection, can help create a smooth workflow and reduce delays. -Work with CROs:, Wworking with Contract Research Organizations (CROs) helps with tasks such as monitoring, which allows sites to concentrate on patient care and data integrity. -Use of technology:, such as electronic systems like electronic case report forms, to minimize human error and have data accuracy Technologies such as AI can help in making decision-making and trial protocols. -Patient-centric focus:, using patient experiences Bby reducing the times a person needs to have in-person visits toby offering remote monitoring options which can lead to better rates and more reliable outcomes. These methods can enhance the effectiveness and success of clinical trials and speed up the process of bringing new treatments to the market. Read more here #clincaltrials #techology #patients

The pharmaceutical industry is increasingly reliant on the global supply chain. The sector is changing from phase-appropriate development to more forward models due to the lessons learned from the Covid pandemic, which changed timelines and ability availability challenges. Companies are now urged to plan the earlier development process to avoid any delay and have production faster. Growing concerns around international suppliers especially from China Chain which is an active pharmaceutical ingredient as known as (API) This is a risk as seen in the discussion about how these disruptions can jeopardize national security. Merck is taking steps to increase diversity within clinical trials, focusing on the underrepresentation of minority groups. In a recent interview, Dr. Aurelia Allen, she talked about the importance of having a larger range of participants. To improve diversity efforts, Merck is working with communities and using mobile clinics to improve access and awareness to clinical trials, making them more inclusive. This makes it possible for more people to consider taking part in trials which help with medical advancements. Learn more at the link below: #clinicaltrials #diversity #access

When patients are engaged in their own healthcare, it often leads to better outcomes. So, how can Pharma companies work to increase patient engagement? 1. Develop drugs that are relevant to the needs of those experiencing the disease – Listening to and learning from those with lived experience of the disease during the discovery stage can spotlight unmet needs, offering actionable insights for clinical research. 2. Ensure that diversity and inclusion are met as early as possible in clinical trials, as it is a vital part of successful drug development. 3. Commit to continuing patient dialogue even after the drug is approved. Patient engagement remains vital for safety monitoring, evidence for its effectiveness in a real-world setting, and informing patient support services. We are thrilled for the upcoming Biotech Alchemy conference in Philadelphia, which will explore the transformative potential of AI in drug development. Participants will gain insight into capital markets, workforce development, and patient advocacy. Our very own Mike Walsh and Josh Argall will be participating in the patient advocacy panel, which will look at funding research, development, and drug access. The panel, also featuring the Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development's Joan Chambers, the Emily Whitehead Foundation's George Eastwood, and author and inspirational speaker, Chris White, will also touch on: ◼ Strategies for drug developers to address underserved patients. ◼ Ways innovators can align the interests of payers, manufacturers, investors, hospitals, and patients to create a more inclusive and effective healthcare ecosystem. There are three main challenges when it comes to clinical trial recruitment: 1. Trial criteria disqualifies some participants. 2. Lack of awareness that a trial is taking place 3. Trial sites have high demand for work. Some solutions to this include: 1. AI and data analytics have changed how clinical trials recruit by making it more efficient and accurate. AI platforms can prescreen potential participants and analyze datasets to identify candidates based on specific eligibility. This speeds up the recruitment process and improves the quality of participant selection. 2. Wearable devices and telemedicine have improved clinical trials by having them collect remote data and monitor the participants which allows for site visits to happen from home, reducing travel and disruption to their daily lives. This makes it more accessible and enhances participant retention. 3. Integrated digital platforms ensure seamless communication for participants, researchers, and trial sites which improve the flow of information and trail management. A pilot project supported by NHS England is using AI to help detect hidden heart attack risks. This project has patients who have chest pain get their routine CT scans which are analyzed by Caristo Diagnostics ' CaRi-Heart AI platform. There is an algorithm that detects coronary inflammation and plaque, which then is assessed by trained operators to verify the accuracy. The study found that by using AI technology, 45% of patients were prescribed medication or encouraged to make lifestyle changes to prevent the risk of future heart attacks. Ian Pickard, 58 was experiencing chest pain and was referred to a CT scan in November 2023. He was enrolled in the pilot project. He says he now has been prescribed statins, told to quit smoking and increase his exercise after tests using the AI analysis suggested he was at risk of having a heart attack. Charalambos Antoniades, Orfan study lead says “Now, with this kind of [AI] technology, we know exactly which patient has the disease activity in their arteries before the disease has even developed.” Read more about Caristo Diagnostics' CaRi-Heart AI platform below: https://lnkd.in/gfTSz3ZG #AItechnology #Clincaltrials #HealthcareAI
