During Patient ID Week, we are advocating for HR7379, the MATCH IT Act, which would standardize the input of patient demographic data, and help to prevent the inverse privacy problem caused by repeated disclosure of personal health information. The MATCH IT Act would also help reduce duplicate and overlaid records which can lead to unauthorized disclosures of personal health information under HIPAA, or even worse, one patient being treated for another patient’s condition. Join us to raise awareness for patient misidentification by writing to your members of Congress and asking them to cosponsor the MATCH IT Act! Take action at bit.ly/3WJplm3 today! #patientIDnow

Patient misidentification can result in misprescribed medications, allergies missed, and duplicative testing, all of which can impede or prolong patient care. Patients deserve the best care possible, which is why we worked with Reps. Mike Kelly (R-PA) and Bill Foster (D-IL) to create the MATCH IT Act, a bill that will improve patient matching and safety through increased transparency and improved standards.
