Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) Reporting If you own a business, you probably know that the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) now requires you to register your company/companies with them as part of their effort to combat fraud (such as channeling funds through multiple entities to hide the true beneficiary). Please take note of the following: The official deadline for registering your established company is January 1, 2025 BUT if your principal place of business is in Florida you now have an extension of time to register until July 1, 2025. Registration for most small business owners is not difficult, so if you have no reason to delay we recommend you take care of it early and avoid a penalty if it should slip your mind. Several companies are popping up, offering to file your registration for you for a fee. Please be aware that you can go online and register for free. If you pay someone to do this for you, you will still need to provide that company with the information you must file with FinCEN. A 5-minute video is available on FinCEN’s https://bit.ly/4fMBrSd to show you how to register, but you can watch it on YouTube https://bit.ly/3An47Bz, if you prefer.

Fun Fact Friday!! Did you know? The United States holds its federal elections on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November. This tradition dates back to 1845 when Congress chose this time to accommodate farmers who needed time to travel to polling places after the harvest season. Tuesday was selected to avoid conflicts with religious observances and market days. This timing may seem a bit unusual today, but it was all about practicality back then! Be sure to Vote by Tuesday11/5/24 #FunFactFriday #ElectionDay #CivicDuty
