About us
Patten Seed Company is a family-run business that started over 60 years ago in Lakeland, Georgia. They grow, clean, and bag TifBlair Centipede and Zenith and Compadre Zoysia grass seed at their farms and facilities in Lakeland and Ft. Valley, Georgia, and Orangeburg, South Carolina. Their seed is sold globally. Focusing their sod and compost business in the Southeast, Patten Seed does business as Super-Sod through their 8 sod farms and 13 landscape supply stores in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Super-Sod sells sod by the individual roll, full pallet, or truckload. It's available for delivery or pick-up fresh from their farms to landscapers and directly to DIY homeowners. One of their most popular products has been their OMRI Listed Soil3 organic compost, delivered in a cubic yard BigYellowBag, which they make partially from composted grass clippings from their sod production. Super-Sod employs experts in turf and horticulture and the company continues to develop new garden products, foster gardening and landscaping, and always seeks to improve their farming practices, technology, environmental stewardship, and employee knowledge.

Sabanto, Inc. announces compatibility for John Deere 5075E tractors with Steward, an advanced technology platform that enables tractors to run autonomously. This addition allows owners of John Deere 5075E cab and open operator station tractors to reallocate their time and efforts to other important aspects of their operation. “By extending Steward’s compatibility to include John Deere 5075E tractors, we’re enabling more farmers access to the benefits of autonomy,” expressed Craig Rupp, CEO and founder of Sabanto. “This addition is part of our mission to offer a cost-effective solution to farmers that is brand agnostic, simple to use and adds more hours to an operator’s work day.” Josh Morrow, COO of Patten Seed Company/Super-Sod, highlighted the operational benefits, stating, “Sabanto’s compatibility with John Deere 5075E tractors will allow our organization to operate at peak efficiency. We can utilize our existing fleet of 5075E tractors to operate autonomously without the need of a DEF system, allowing us to maximize the value of our current capital. Without a doubt, Sabanto’s autonomy will transform the way we perform our daily operations.”

I put Zeon Zoysia sod on a slope I didn't want to mow and let it grow long. It turned out beautifully! I've since been on a quest to find more unmowed, long Zoysia. Has anyone else done this and have insights, ideas, and pictures to share? My husband and I enjoy it so much we plan on expanding it down the entire side of the house. Here are pics of my small patch (close up in summer, down the slope in autumn).

We advise against using wheat straw to cover lawn grass seed. As seen in the photo, when it's spread, it increases the likelihood of sprouting. It's better to use a light layer of Soil³ compost. Not only does it provide more seed to soil contact, it also gives essential nutrients and retains moisture, most importantly, it doesn't bring in weed seeds! 🌱 #nowheatstraw #soil³isbest #seeding
