We are proud to announce the launch of the SAY IT retreat, a free 3-day retreat for young people ages 12-16 who have been affected by suicide in any way. This new initiative is brought to our community in partnership with Nancy Salomon, M.Ed., Todd Salomon, Allison E. Frantz, and with sponsorship from the Suicide Prevention Coalition of Lehigh County, Lehigh Valley Health Network, Project Aware, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. At the SAY IT retreat, youth will have the opportunity to connect with others who understand their experiences, share in healing, and engage in both fun and therapeutic activities. With on-site clinicians available for support, we aim to provide a safe space for young people to process their grief and emotions. Nancy Salomon, who tragically lost her 13-year-old to suicide, shares: “A loss to suicide is extremely hard for any person to process, and our youth are often left feeling mistrustful, guilty, or alone. This retreat will help them connect, heal, and feel supported. There will be laughter, connection, and opportunities for growth.” Whether the loss is of a classmate, a neighbor, a friend or family member, we encourage families to apply. If your child is within the age range of 12-16 (or close to it), we are flexible and willing to accommodate. Parents can stay in touch with their campers throughout the weekend, and there’s even an option for those uncomfortable with overnight stays to head home at night. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Alli Gillette at AGillette@ValleyYouthHouse.org or (484) 484 - 8661. Let’s come together to offer healing, hope, and support. Please share this opportunity with your network. #pennsylvania #mentalhealth #lehighvalley #suicideprevention
