About us

Most of us are never taught about money or how to run a business. We are left on our own to figure out how to save to buy a house, handle taxes, manage business income, or hire our first employee. We learn on the fly (mostly through our own mistakes) - costing time and money. Finance is analogous to health - it's a science with well documented strategies that lead to success. Yet we struggle to lose weight and keep it off or improve strength and decrease body fat. Despite the "science" being well documented for finance and fitness, executing a financial plan - just like executing a fitness plan - is more art than science. Successful execution requires a commitment to a plan which in turn requires a commitment to behavior change. That’s where a financial planner comes in. Together we will flesh out your goals, understand what’s important to you, and then work backwards to design a plan to get you from point A to point B. Most importantly, once the plan is built, I hold you accountable to the action steps that take a plan from a dream into a reality. I’m doing Financial Advising different ✔️ I’m fee-only (commission free) – I don’t sell insurance or products ✔️ I’m a fiduciary (legally required to act in your best interest) ✔️ I have the “heart of a teacher” and work to educate you ✔️ I’m a business owner and a husband – I can relate to you ✔️ My reputation is my most important asset – integrity is everything to me Common clients I work with: 🎯 Fitness Business owners 🏋️ Personal Trainers 🏖️ Solopreneurs 💪 Self employed individuals Visit ThePeakFP.com or send me a message to learn more

New Video is Live The REAL problem with Asset Allocation | What is the SOLUTION? Explore the pitfalls of asset allocation in this enlightening video, as we delve into the surprising underperformance of retail investors during the 2022 market correction. Despite the S&P 500's 22% drop, the average retail investor faced a steeper decline of nearly 37%. We challenge the conventional wisdom of asset allocation, highlighting its inefficiency in risk management and diversification, especially evident in 2022's financial landscape. Join us in the first of a three-part series as we unravel why traditional asset allocation strategies are failing investors. We'll introduce Peak Financial Planning's unique metrics for smarter retirement investing decisions. Learn how misaligned asset allocations can lead to impulsive decisions, hesitance in market re-entry, and a snowball effect of confidence loss, ultimately impacting portfolio performance. Stay tuned for our next video where we'll define and apply four key metrics – Standard Deviation, Beta, Stock Market Correlation, and Maximum Drawdown – to real-world scenarios. These metrics promise a more accurate assessment of portfolio volatility and risk.

There are 3 types of Retirement Plans. No more, No less. Just like you learn to crawl, before you walk, before you run, so too must you progress through all three types of retirement plans in the appropriate order. In this week's video I go over the three distinct types of retirement plans: 0% - 59% success rate, also known as "Triage" 60% - 79% success rate, also known as "Stabilization" 80%+ success rate, also known as "Optimization" Each of these plans has its own distinct set of actions that should be taken in order to progress from "Triage" to "Optimization". I hope you enjoy this week's video, The 3 Types of Retirement Plans. https://lnkd.in/g9FhRWw3

One of the best bulleted pieces of advice I've seen lately from the great Lance Roberts Investing is not a competition. There are no prizes for winning but severe penalties for losing. Emotions have no place in investing. You are generally better off doing the opposite of what you “feel” you should be doing. The ONLY investments that you can “buy and hold” are those that provide an income stream with a return of principal function. Market valuations (except at extremes) are inferior market timing devices. Fundamentals and Economics drive long-term investment decisions – “Greed and Fear” drive short-term trading. Knowing what type of investor you are determines the basis of your strategy. “Market timing” is impossible– managing risk exposure is logical and possible. Investment is about discipline and patience. Lacking either one can be destructive to your investment goals. There is no value in daily media commentary– turn off the television and save yourself the mental capital. Investing is no different than gambling– both are “guesses” about future outcomes based on probabilities. The winner is the one who knows when to “fold” and when to go “all in.” No investment strategy works all the time. The trick is knowing the difference between a bad investment strategy and one temporarily out of favor. https://lnkd.in/gWyDVv9Z
